TD8, Chili Wars, and Cabbage Patch Kids Part I

So I decided to hitch a ride with JohnnyD and Gorette to TD8.

Plans changed a little bit since John was going to head down Friday night and Gorette and I were going to leave Saturday morning. About 9am Goretta meets me at my apartment and we pile everything in my Jeep and start our trek (after a Starbucks run of course - YUMMY PUMPKIN SPICE!)

We get to JohnnyD's parents' house at about 11ish. There is no JohnnyD though which is odd because he left about 8 hours before us. We later discover that he decided to take a nap on the way down.

...Apparently a very long nap.

He shows up maybe 40 minutes after us.... By my calculations he could have driven to  Indiana in less time... Wink

Meanwhile, I was introduced to Mom and Pop DeSalvo who are nothing short of awesome and welcoming. I felt at home immediately <3

Mama D, Gorette and I pregame with Skinny Girl Margaritas:

Let me stop here and say how much my head hurts. Why does it hurt, you wonder? Because I smashed the hell out of it reaching down to get my first aid kit. I have a giant bump on my head now.

Stupid irony.

So the DeSalvo's were gearing up for Chili Wars - friends would be coming from far and wide bringing Chili and for one team, taking home a trophy and more importantly - securing bragging rights. From what I gleaned from the rumor mill - there was some score to be settled after Cupcake War - so this was pretty high stakes! There was much dicussion about logistics  - I was looking forward to Sunday and seeing how this played out.

But in the meanwhile there was TD8 to deal with. The wind wasn't cooperating but the crew was out in full force. I was debuting the first draft of the Kite Like a Girl Logo and was trying to get any of the girls I saw interested in joining up.  (FYI we now number TWLEVE!!! OMG! CALENDAR TIME!!!)

UPDATE: THIRTEEN!!!

There was also this which  I'm not even going to put in context:

If you see this individual, corner him and do not let him go until he emails me my SUP pictures!!!

Biggi shows how Kite Like A Girl members spend our downtime Smile

New KLaGer Ivana and the gang.

Kiters and future kiters!

Whatever he did, it caught their attention...

I'm just sayin.... Smile

After the beach we headed to Chris' place for TD8 gathering and some super awesome swordfish and oysters! Trees barely survived the bonfire, the booze flowed freely and harmony was the theme of the evening.

Most awesome was getting to see all my friends and meet new ones!

Not gonna lie, I passed out kinda early so missed the raffle but I did managed to score a Cabrina hoodie courtesy of Chris. Thanks!
