TD8, Chili Wars, and Cabbage Patch Kids Part II

The next morning I woke up, grabbed a hunk of swordfish from the night before to go feed the fish off the dock.

Looking at the pond and seeing how much the surroundings have changed since the beginning of summer, it was a little sad to see the leaves starting to fall signalling the end of warm days and warning us of the chill that's pending.

However it was hard to think of anything like that when the weekend weather was so amazing, plus while I love the warm weather, there is something to be said for fall day, gold, orange and red leaves falling on you while you sip hot cider with friends...

But anyhow - Early birds were up, including myself, Gorette, Andrew (from Powerline), Chris and a few others.

...JohnnyD - not so much... (I took the liberty of ilustrating what I think his SuperSprinterVanDreams are like)

Eventually we made it back to JohnnyD's parent's cottage. Chili Wars was coming!

I helped out Mama D with her salsa-  yummmy! Red onion, avocado, olives, tomato, corn, some olive oil and seasoning - and lots of peppers!!!

I also was the unofficial taste tester of Poppa D's chili! It's rough being me some times Smile

In the middle of all of this, Gorette and I went for a walk by the beach and picked some flowers for Mama D:

We also spent some time riding around on the moped - JohnnyD has those pictures - I'll include them if I can get copies Smile

While we were tearing it up we found a very lost looking Chris who joined us for chili goodness!

There was a nice spread of ribs and salsa and yummy bruchetta that Gorette and I made...

And then there was CHILI!

It was superhard to pick a favorite. I was torn between #3 and #4. #3 was JohnnyD's dads so I ended up picking his. Lots of beefy, spicy goodness. He gave me a container to take home! I might share if you ask me nice enough...

And then the winner was revealed!!!

It was #1!!!! JohnnyD's cousin pulled out all the stops with a fabulous chili and breadbowls..

After the food every one sat around and chatted - it was great. I got to spend some more time talking with Mama D.... and finding out someVERY interesting stuff about a certain Masskiter who  - and this is all I'm gonna say -  wanted a cabbage patch kid doll as a child... (and got one! a girl version!!!!!! LOLOLOLLL)

*COUGH COUGH COUGH*

There was also an interesting story about Bert and Ernie but I'll save that for another time Smile

Gorette and I left abou 6pm or so. I definitely had a blast and was full and happy. Mama and Poppa D are just too amazing for words.(I hope to see you guys again very very soon!)

Right before I left, the DeSalvo's gave me a souvenier of my weekend which I have already found a place for! Smile
