Wind... We need to talk. What'd I Ever Do To You?
So it's crunch time - only two weeks until my surgery so it is pretty important I get some kite time before that happens. Friday at PBay seemed doable AND I didn't even have classes so I was free ALL DAY! Until I was cornered by someone in my program who asked me to show a student around Harvard who wanted to get into the same grad program I am in... At 3pm. When. of course, the wind was predicted to be at its best.
:bitter:
But I didn't care. I was so desparate for riding time that I figured I'd make the best of it. I got down to PB and saw this:

That's always promising.
David, Dan, and Ed were holding down the fort. The wind was light, but ridable on my 12m. Well, ridable for a little bit then it was a nice drift to shore with kite down. Regardless, the sun was out, the water was comfortable and even though the wind was sucking it was still worth the ride down.
We waited on shore to see if the wind would come up. It was about one. I had to be back at Harvard at three in a semi-presentable state.

As it started to get nearer three - and of course WINDIER - more folks showed up.

The tide started coming in. The wait was on for the wind. I amuse myself.

And we wait...

It is now 2pm or so and time for me to go. I put on my skirt and heels and tried to not look like someone who was just soaking in salt water earlier that day. I am not sure I achieved this but what can ya do?
Of course the wind starts blowing. Tyler does his part in keeping the beaches PG.

Headed back to Harvard, all the while noticing how the wind was picking up even more. ::bitter::

Finally got to Harvard and did the tour guide deal. The whole time I might add, I had a soggy wetsuit in my bag lol...
As soon as possible I finished up and headed back to Pbay. When I got there I noticed everyone wrapping up! NOOOOOOO!!!! Turns out when I left it picked up. .. %$@#$#
A few die hards were still in the water. I had put my wetsuit back on but decided not to pump up my kite. Instead I took a few more pictures.

But I was bitter.

I also managed to do some PRing for Masskiting.com and KiteLikeAGirl.

After everyone headed in - it was decided some post-flight drinks were in order (or in my case, post-not-flight) so we headed to Local 149 and muched on some goodies ad had a few drinks courtesy of Kitermike!
BTW I am supposed to tell JohnnyD: I got to drink at a bar you got thrown out of.
:snicker:
