Changing trim line on an OR Rise
USE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION
Go to West Marine and buy 7 feet of grey 3/16 inch amsteel blue line. "Blue" seems to just be part of the company name as this line does come in various colors.
1.Measure actual line excluding ends (ie. balls, plastic, etc.).
2.Tie an anchor bend knot to depower ring so that line length will be just right. No plastic part or ball anymore (if applicable) but should match the length prior.
3.Use strong clear packaging tape to tape ends of line, create long tape end to fit thru holes of chicken loop. You can use other types of tape but this worked well for me with needle nose pliers.
4.Thread line thru bar, thru one side of stopper, thru pulley, thru other side of stopper, back thru bar to chicken loop. ***Large holes on stopper face up***
5.Reattach depower balls and handle. Tied a figure eight knot to secure depower handle. Length should match length prior.
I did not have to cut anything. Also, I'm not sure if any one knot is better than another but the knots I used have so far worked well for me. Total time 15 minutes, total cost ~$7, fun factor knowing I'm safe again, priceless!
