Kiters in Florida
Lately, I have seen a number of kiters out on the water here in central Florida. The winds have been out of the North for the past two days. Monday I went up to Sebastian and sailed a formula board for the first time. I measured 18-23 m.p.h. on my anemometer. There were the usual half dozen kiters at the point in the Sebastian State Park. Yesterday the winds moved to the NNE which is a bit on shore at the Ocean. The Temps dipped to 39 F over night but have moderated considerably. We'll be back in the 70's soon. I saw kiters off my balcony along with a guy on an SUP with a sail. I was surprised to see anyone, considering how the winds were blowing around 15 knots and the native population locks itself up when the temps go so low (in their opinion).
i was just in Naples and we had a good NW afternoon blast two days ago, then the next day drove over to Jupiter and it shifted to NE and that place was going off with head high ways!
I just had a nice session yesterday in Boca Raton... side on around 15 with nice waves. Little underpowered but it was nice to get out, especially after I missed two days of breeze due to 12 hour flight delay then lost bags!
there's an upcoming CKA competition at Cocoa Beach which is well worth checking out!

Perhaps I'll drive up there for that. Yesterday, I was out on my recently acquired formula pole board blasting and jumping at Wabasso Causeway. A guy From N. Carolina came by with all sorts of equipment on an SUV and in a trailer. Kayaks, windsurfers and I suspect kites. He wound up rigging a sail. Looks like surf kiting will be out for me, though, due to the rotator cuff troubles.
