New England Snowkite Map
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&gl ... 282227&z=7
This is certainly not a complete list of places to Snowkite in New England but more of a working area to help us record our finds or places that didn't work out so well. Please let me know if you wish to share knowledge and I can add you as an editor on the map.
Can't wait to try it out!
Sump is "Snow King" can't wait to check out some of the new spots. 100 acre field in Uxbridge is a spot I would like to know more about.
Just picked up kiteboarding and still think snow kiting on the side of a mountain is to much for me...however I would love to get some instruction on a large flat field. Uxbridge sounds good to me? Let me know if there are any plans for an initial winter get together...

I'd be interested in the Uxbridge site as well.
Looking forward to it!

Yes, both looking forward to it, for sure.
We ski and took up snowboarding last year after Cort's urging (I was a bit hesitant, you know, the age thing). Interesting the kid wants to go back to skiing but I really liked snowboard. Kid on ski and Dad on snowboard, usually its the other way around but I guess as long as we get out its all good!
I hope the uxbridge site works out, be nice to have something close to home.
Oh, I'm sure Cort will be back to boarding... but sounds like he likes to go FAST! I don't blame him. Can't wait to kite on snow this year... we sure did talk about it a lot last year and never really went.
Sump has me psyched!
There is snow up here in north conway....NH...I was out yesterday for a few hours...was out today for and hour and a half.....things are nice....where I was is very special info come up and get in touch with me...
Hint Lakes suck!
Yeah, Sunday could be the pow pow day! What's a good way to self launch?
Green Hill Golf Course, right in worcester. I went up there Sunday and think it is going to be a killer spot. The elevation is above the city, there is a lake if you are afraid of a few trees and there is plenty of terrain. The map doesn't show it well, but I was up there yesterday drooling !!! There just wasn't enough snow yesterday, but I heard more snow on Tuesday night into wednesday !!!
To enter Green hill golf course I think it would be better to come in Marsh st off of Linclon st the parking is right on the golf course. I have looked at this but was turned away by all the hard nonmovable things, benchs, sign posts ,fencing ,railings ,trees ,big bolders ,telephone poles, ect. Let me know if you are planning on going I will try to make it.

I'm a newbie so this will probably be a newbie question...
Since the lakes aren't frozen through just yet, I was hoping to find some flat open land outside of the Boston areas. The only places that come to mind are public golf courses. Does anyone know of a kite-friendly public course (or anywhere close for that matter) that is good for beginners and intermediates???
I appreciate any suggestions!
Edmond welcome!!
First off this site is dedicated to helping the newbie. Yes some of us have hours upon hours of riding experience but we all started by finding the community. So vs. riding alone why don't you watch our planning here. This weekend we would like to go out and even today a group of MASSkiters were out on a frozen lake in Worcetser with 9 inches of safe ice.
We can make sure you and your gear are in order or might be able to fit you into some gear. Excuse me if you are already riding but if not the we would be honored for you to come and kook out and get some pointers. We all did but with us you can be sure we are a helpful supportive eye vs a critical one. You can practice assured you are doing the right thing.
But we do have a community Snow kite map
Edmond - The snowmobilers are our canary in a coalmine sort of speak as they need 5" of ice whereas as people need a minimum of 2" - so generally we wait till they get out then "test" the ice for ourselves - so far I've been to Indian Lake and Mascuppic both of which are close and expect many others to be ready in a week - Lakes are good as they can get clean wind and give you lots of space but so far this winter I've also ridden Millennium Park, Pope John Paul Park, Franklin Park Golf Course, VT, and Nahant all of which can be great to learn on a steady clean wind day within your range -think 10-18mph with gusts not exceeding 5-10mph more then the base.
When and where are you meeting in Worcester this weekend??? Email address?
Thanks!
good snow and wind on lake Quannapowitt
Hey Robdar has anyone checked the ice at lake Q? We had a great time there last year well worth the trip!!!
Hi BobDoe there was 2 people snowkiting today and wind surfs where also out
is there a way to add locations to the map?? There's a place called Sunrise Lake in NH that looks pretty good for snowkiting (when there's snow atleast). not much info on it online but nice open area.
try emailing Sump.

Just tune in here, we'll let you know when we're heading out.
If you're not looking for formal instruction just show up - I don't think anyone will mind helping a fellow kiter out.
... I've already been checking the mountain webcams, don't see much yet:
