Got about 7 hours of riding in down at Hatteras with the guys from www.sandislandkiteboarding.com started off blowing 14 mph SW at 10:00 then picked up to 22-25 mph around 2:00 and stayed that way till sunset. We ended up with a sweet 6 bedroom house on the sound for $1000 for the week in Waves, NC. Off season is definitely the time to be here. House is about 1/4 mile up from Real Kiteboarding. Nice slick just south of us from a small island. Water is 2-5 feet deep for at least a mile out. My first trip to Hatteras and definitely learned more today than I have all season! Below is a link of the house were staying in. Can definitely recomend this place for kiters. 3 floors, heated pool, Hot tub, pool table etc etc. Launch is a little tight, but as you can see from the attached pic, We made it work with a lot of kites. Good size Pier that you can tie to and do self launches/lands. Will post some more pics tomorrow.
