Ok I almost didnt make it being completely sick the day before. Pete and I head out early and met up with Kristof on the highway lol. Then we hit the beach and it was blowing 15-22. I head out and then Chris who was out for a really long time. Then all the rest of the gang showed up and it was like a summer day at the beach. Funny though we didn't expect that at all. My camera lost power right as it got good. But it was a really good day despite the cold feet!

yup

Good times but definitely not a beginner's session. i couldn't get out at all. The chop didn't help either.

it was cool to start the season though. the 4/3 full suit + 3/2 shorty setup worked pretty well. thanks JD for the tip on that. see you guys around

Not a bad little

Not a bad little session...

Picked Mesa up around 11AM, the car packed to the gills with kite gear, and headed down to meet JD, Chris, and PeteCat down at Chappy.

After a quick stop at Subway, hit the beach where the wind was blowing onshore and the waves were breaking all along the sandbar. JD was out on his 12m and Chris was out on his 14m. I pumped my 12m and Mesa pumped her 12m and we bumped into Eugene, Holly, Kristoph, and Pete on the beach. It was pretty cold and only partly sunny, but Mesa once again decided she'd try it without boots or gloves.

Got out on my 12m and 150W, and headed upwind to get a clear space to play in the breakers off to the left of the parking lot. Rode some nice waves and the starbord tack was sweet as you could flip toe-side and seriously cut up on the breakers, even got a few cutbacks in. I really learned to time a downloop while goign down the wave face to keep tension in he lines while riding. I guess the next step is to wave ride unhooked.

Mesa was able to tackle the whitewater and get out and ride for a bit before her feet almost fell off. Eugene hit the water a few times to tackle some board skills in the difficult conditions of onshore winds and fairly serious whitewater, and did really well.

Stopped at the Silver Lounge on 28A for a post session beer with JD, PeteCat, and Mesa.
