Finally kiting the Charles River today!!!!!
Technically the 2nd time since Sump and I did it in Jan on ice - but everytime I drive storrow and see all the sailboats I think,"I should be out there boosting over them." Southeast highteens should be an acceptible wind for launching off the reflecting pool along storrow - runs between the Harvard and Longfellow bridges - and a landing downwind near memorial drive walking path.
I'll get some photo/video but if you're able to take a late lunch come check it out around 2pm!!!!!
The more photos the better the session report!!!!
don't screw it up! don't need bad press.
With that being said, keep sure to check out the current direction of the river. If its pushing against the board then you should be able to go with lower wind then usual, when the current is coming from your back, then you will need BY FAR more wind to stay upwind. Might even be impossible.
That sounds awsome! I certainly dont want to hear about bad karma or bad press.
Funny besides Police that would make you stop as they have no idea what your up to with cars on both sides. The actual wind lovers sailboats and the rowers are likely to the the gate keepers to complain. Sure its a cool experience.. That is one that makes me wish I did not have a job.
sounds like some april foolery to me. Saul from Mit did it years ago. classic pic with Mass Eye & Ear right behind him. it's sketchy at best. Saul owns Griffin kites now, aussie dude, old school. Monkey Kites
Zero Prestige=old joke

Cause if you kited on the Charles... that would be a trouble.
I've windsurfed on the charles near community boating by the longfellow bridge. It's the most shifting wind you'll ever encounter. Kiting might be a bit better if you keep your kite high away from wind shadows. It won't save you from the lulls though and it would still be a frigging adventure though.
it's already been done and documented.
same deal with my buddy crazy tom on hisstandup super jetski on the charles wearing a wetsuit and a santa claus outfit, cops were a bit pissed but let him go...with a warning
Windsurfing is totally fine if it is out of the boat club.
Very funny.
Funny you mention that guy in the Santa suit, I saw him out there a few months ago. As far as kiting the charles goes, I have been planning on doing it for a few years. I live right across the street from it and have a decent spot to launch. I don't think wind from the south is what you want though.

anyone get photos of me out there????
