Kurt - new to the forum
Hi Everyone:
I have lived in Boston all my life, but I am new to kiteboarding. I spent a few summers teaching windsurfing at Wind's Up on Martha's Vineyard, but I now work in Boston and I am hoping to kite as much as possible this summer.
I have taken a few kiteboarding lessons over the past year couple of years, and just purchased my first kite this winter. I am looking for a used board that is good for a 185 lb. beginner. (Would this be around 145cm?) I would also like to get to know some of you because I will definitely need some guidance and/or assistance when it comes to rigging my kite, launching, etc. (I have done all of this before, but always with an instructor present.) Is Pleasure Bay the closest/best spot for someone like me?
Any tips, suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to meeting everyone and seeing you all on the beach the summer!
All the best,
Kurt
From one newbie to another I welcome you. You'll find, as I did, that the people in this community are great and always eager to lend a helping hand...I was told that PB was not the best place for beginners as the winds can be tricky and it can also get crowded. I was suggested revere beach and will probably starting there myself. Maybe we can meet up and help each other get started.
See you out there!
Welcome Kurt!
As the weather gets warmer and warmer, there will be a lot of people planning trips out. We try and go in groups of all levels so everyone can help everyone else out. Things aren't that organized yet as it is early in the season, but we will start planning a bit more as the season come sinto swing.
For your frist few sessions, Revere isn't a bad choice. Wacky Bay is also a good option on the Cape, alogn with Chapin and West Dennis.
See you out there soon!
SK
What kind of kite do you have?
PBay isn't the best spot for learning. The earlier in the season (pre-memorial day) you start, the better off you are to shake off the cobwebs without as many people around.
prolly 4/3, it's getting warmer so that should suit you fine.
bad pun. sorry.
Maduxguy,
this is a serious kitesurfing community here. Your sarcasm will not be tolerated.
if you're gonna get all mad about ducks, guy.......you will fit right in.
seriously tho, welcome. pretty sure it's you, jeff. geoff ? Jaffffrey ?
blow the dust off that keyboard and post something, will ya ?

I have a '06 12m Cabrinah Crossbow. Bought it used from the guys I took lessons with in South Padre. It seems to be in very good shape. What kind of wetsuit would you recommend for pre-memorial day riding?
