Memorial Day Weekend at "THE CAMP"

Select Event:
Event Times:
Fri, 05/27/2011 - Mon, 05/30/2011

"The Camp" will be open this Memorial Day weekend. Swim raft is in the water (water in the pond is warm already!), the grill is ready to go and a couple of games are set up as well. The house is full so if you plan on coming down, bring your tents and other camping gear. There is plenty of room for everyone.

Chris "Howudoin"

Directions: Put 40 Pilot Drive, South Dennis in your GPS. Look for the fire hydrant at that address. Marie Cartway is directly opposite the fire hydrant (you will not see Marie Cartway if you do not look for the fire hydrant first!) I'm the only house on Marie Cartway at the very end.

Issue is if you make a post its easy but comments are kept simple.. Sorry..

Thanks to all who came even though the wind 4cast wasn't great (although we still kited every day - big kites but I'm counting it!)

Sorry for the "screaming" frogs, but there's only so much I can control! Looking forward to seeing you all again,

1. CAMP RULES :)

1. Drive SLOWLY down the driveway. It's a LONG single lane road with some blind hills. Cars LEAVING THE CAMP WILL HAVE PRECEDENCE over those entering. So if you come face to face, cars entering the camp will have to back up.

1A. Parking is going to be tricky. Will be a trial by fire for The Camp. If everyone could leave their keys on driver side seat after parking, that would be great. This way we don't have to go looking for you if we need to move your car.

2. The cottage has a 2 bedroom septic system, meant for 4 to 6 people. Looks like we will be near 20 people this weekend. This means if you are at a restaurant or other place with public facilities, do use them (especially for #2). Girls will have full bathroom priviledges, guys will be expected to "pee on a tree".

3. I have a great fully enclosed outdoor shower that I expect everyone to use (unless it gets cold out) Do conserve hot water as I only have a 40 gallon tank. This means turning on the water to get wet, turn off the water while soaping, then back on while rinsing. Nobody likes a cold shower, and if we all play by the rules, there should be plenty of hot water for everyone.

4. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be at the Camp Sat and Sun. Breakfast and lunch on Monday. I will make a food collection at some point and request volunteers to help with the shopping.

5. Bring what you want to drink (alcohol) and coolers and ice and any mixers. The fridge will be used for food. I have an ice maker, but it can only make 30lbs of ice a day, so if you want cold drinks, pack some ice in your coolers.

6. Bring your own linens and towels. The pond water is warm, so if you plan on swimming, bring beach towels as well.

7. The house gets a great breeze, so there are surprisingly few mosquitoes (I didnt get 1 bite in 3 days last week and there was no wind to speak of), but bring bug spray anyway. The woods have ticks, so make sure to check yourself if you go for a nature walk.

8. Tents away from the house will probably have some bug issues, those close will have more party noise issues, so pick your poison when deciding where to tent.

9. Make sure to HELP OUT around The Camp. If you ate dinner but didn't shop or cook, help with the clean up. Everyone needs to contribute. Those that don't help out will loose their Camp Priviledges!

10. DO NOT KILL OR INJURE YOURSELF ON THE TRAMPOLINE! It doesn't have a safety net around it. If you are smashed, please have another drink and STAY OFF THE TRAMPOLINE.

11. Have FUN, looking forward to seeing everyone there.
