A surprise session this morning up at Winthrop with a fairly strong NE wind in the 18-22 range. With a few early risers fighting hangovers from Pub Golf Boston 2009 and Beerfest 2009, we were all on the beach by 10AM.

Jean arrived first and had parked and pumped down by Deer Island. He was out and running on his 9m by the time I got my 12m pumped. As Jean rode upwind to us, JD and PeteCat had arrived and I got a launch. As they rigged up, I cranked up to the point, along with Jean, and played in the waves for awhile. It was low tide and the pool wasn't open enough to kiet in. The waves were 3-4ft kickers but no real swell like we have been used to at this spot.

Tommy showed up and JD got a launch. I was back inside the breakwater, working on backroll transitions. JD threw a raley and dropped his bar, unfortunately the leash didn't hold and his kite was soon skating across the water heading toward the houses. Jean was quick on the draw and was able to pick up JD's kite without and damage, just as it hit the beach.

PeteCat and Tommy both took their turns and worked on skills. Tommy was trying to stay upwind and Pete was dragging and then making his first board attempts.

The wind started to die off a bit around 1PM and we all packed it up.

Looking forward to the kite aprty tonight!
