Waves for BrockDub!!
Brock heres on for you!!! Oh you missed our Chatham light session 10-12 ft 1/2 mile out in 35mph!!! Scariest adrenal session I ever had. We almost lost Kirk after his kite ripped in half and death loop by a wave. He cut loose and was swept 2 miles in a rip not to be found with no floatation til he swam in.. Kirk is a rock solid extreme kiter who takes massive air ans speed with a touch of mega loop!! Humbled by the waves that day!!
But here this one is for you..
Gives me a bit of a stiffy just looking at the pictures.
Yes I like the waves alot. I love the fact that they are a never ending ride. I really liked it when JohnnyD and I were riding back from the rocks and ww were just ripping down the rollers.
I am not sure of my board technology as it is only a 127(2006? Naish Sol) and seems to nose dig in really easily especiallyy in the choppy stuff. I tried your board JohnnyD which seemed nice but wide and I never got the straps tight enough for my size 8. I really like the pop on mine but going upwind I could benefit from a few more cm. I really liked Jermy's liquid force 138. It had a softer feel than JohnnyD's or mine but less pop which I think was from a rounder tail/nose.
I really want to try a mako at some point.
Does yur JL have straps?
I'd love to steal a ride on the JL too....
That sounds like it would work for me. I really would be fired up to try it next Sesh.
I'd like to head in this direction
I've got an old G&S fish 7'6" all waxed up with a dunkerbeck wave fin, no straps. It's kinda thick and great for learning to ride a surfboard with a kite. I can almost gybe it consistently, it's floaty so you can come out toeside and just flip 180 after the gybe. Really fun in lighter air with a big kite. I'll bring it next session but Jean has to film me blowing gybes :worried:
I have not tried alot of different boards so I would be interested to try some stuff.
That Fish sounds fun though, especially if there were some waves.
I'm on that forum too;)
I'd like to head in this direction
btw JD, when I put the straps on yer Jimmy Lewis I was just guessing where they should go. I don't like the way they ended up. I would prolly move the back foot up in the middle more, or at least move the 2 closer together. I remember it being pretty wide of a stance.
Yes sir.. but its way harder to get on then a TT.. I imagine you might get up strapless and then engage the straps..
the fish is in hyannis , so we'd have to swing thru before a cape session. I also have a naish Sky Pirate 7'6" WITH straps, it's my FIRST kite board.
Pretty shore there's an old F One directional and a Wipika Cruiser there as well. A bunch of old school directional floatys.
THEN, go ride JDs JL strapped and your mind will be blown. :inlove:
I can pick up a surfboard at a buddy of mines in Middletown. No straps but should be good.
I bet Sid would know where to find some super beater short boards for next to nuthin'

I think Sid has a time machine hidden in the back of the shop, that's how the guy stays young.
Sherman, set the wayback machine for........

HA I hope you weren't thinking it would scare you stiff!! I would not even consider that wave... It would be like an earthquake in magnitude and sheer sound!! The rumble must just deafin you!!
