I think that was my favorite beach to kite on to date. My question is what does the wind direction have to be to kite there?

Re: Wellfleet

Southwest is best, side-on like yesterday. It's the most common wind direction in the summer.

Anything east would be offshore, but all other winds should work from North to South on the west side.

That was a great day and a super weekend! Gorette and Alice got out for lessons with Airsupport. Jermy, Trevor, and I rode from kiteshack to WD and back a few times and my father met us with his sunfish sailboat. Then to show up at Wellfleet to have another full day!! I took the day off and I am cleaning the house. Hopefully get soem pics up.

Re: Wellfleet

Can you elaborate on Kiteshack to WD, is that a downwinder? And where did you launch and park in Wellfleet. I'll be in that neighborhood this weekend. Perhaps a downwinder from First Encounter to Wellfleet would be nice.

Re: Wellfleet

For Wellfleet:

Park in the Cape Cod National Seashore lot for Great Island (the end of Chequessett Neck Rd) for free and walk down the road to the left and over the path to "The Gut" beach. It's beautiful.

Don't park on the side of the road, that's only for residents, and sports a $50 fine.

Real Easy Downwinder: The Gut Beach to Duck Harbor Beach (about 1 mile) or to Corn Hill Beach (about 4 miles).

1st Encounter to Wellfleet would be a long crossing between the north and south side of Wellfleet harbor, about 4 miles of open water crossing, a bit too long for my taste!

Re: Wellfleet

I see what you mean about that open ocean crossing - better to stay near shore... I've had some kite inversions and other weird things happen with my lines lately. I'd rather not become captain of the swim team...!

But you know I cant spell. Jean I would like to know if you would like to have editing rights here at Masskiting, seriously! I can use all the help I can get. You will be able to make articles and edit them. Interested?

I can sing and will have to pick up the guitar and study up a few tunes, not any good really though

Re: Wellfleet

Well... I was just saying next time it blows a strong SW we gotta go down to the parent's place in Bristol... take the boat out about a mile to this sand bar.

Creates a 100 - 200m slick depending on the tide and it drops off really fast making it ideal for working on new tricks in the slick since you don't have to worry about hitting bottom.

Jumping the island is encouraged, but optional.
