Nickerson June 4th-6th, 2010 !!

Not sure how many of you have been to Nickerson State Park in Brewster... It's a pretty cool place to camp on the Cape. How many of you are interested in reserving some camping spots as a group this summer on a few select weekends? If we figure it out soon, we can all stay close together. If it doesn't blow, we still go to camp, eat, stare at fires, and see what else happens. Sounds like a fun weekend to me... anyone else down?

Sick!
What an awesome weekend! Yesterday afternoon's wind finale was a sweet way to wrap up the weekend. Props to Tuna, Jean, Chris, Johnny, and Phil for conquering the 30-40 knot winds. Some seriously big airs during that session! It took me a good 15 minutes to get all the sand out of my hair last night from my head getting pelted as I rolled up my kite. Can't wait to read the session report and pics!

Dude I like your jumping style. The piping plover is a threatened bird species protected by the federal endangered species act. This means many area beaches are roped off when the birds come to hatch babies. It is the result of diminished habitat due to over development on the coast. So the few pristine areas left open to the public are down being taken over by the bird folks. I personally think they should bulldoze all of the mcMansions along the coast and give that area to the plovers so we have more space for kiting. And then we'll also have less whining about the Cape Wind Farm.

I am getting out of work at a reasonable hour and plan to kite then go or I will go straight. Why pass a session up! If I kite I will be there 11pm. What and how do I get in? Or if wind sucks I go straight and get there at 7-8ish.

I'm in! I'm working Friday and I'm running a 5k Saturday morning but will come in the afternoon. I have a pretty big tent that can fit 2 more people besides me.
If someone wants to take this spot and go Fri-Sun, you're welcome to grab this spot instead of me. You're welcome to borrow my tent too, as long as you reserve a spot for me.

I may not be able to come
I may not be able to come until Saturday late morning, will know for sure this weekend. Happy to give someone a ride. I have a ridiculously large tent, and also a small backpacking one. The small one is more waterproof.

Temp status.
I booked 6 campsites in a cluster for June 4th - 6th. I can book a 7th or 8th site, but 6 will handle 12 cars, and we can have bigger tents with more peeps in it if need be. the official total of 6 sites is a max of 24 peeps. if everyone will commit to at least chipping in rain or shine, i can do a few more. or you get your own. but damn, I can't believe how fast they filled up on the site's website.
Our "new" site is off of Flax Pond. not far from the main gate, maybe 2 minutes drive. pm me if you want exact locations.

Ok... there's a sweeet spot
Ok... there's a sweeet spot still open with a bunch of campsites together. right up a path to the pond. And there are Yurts close by... may book one of those too just because. Since 11 of us are down now, I'll book it for the weekend of the 4th. If you haven't posted, still let me know if you are interested... we can get more campsites surrounding it.
MASSkiting goes camping has never disappointed before... this'll be hilarious.
