Hatteras Spring Trip - April 25 - May 2

Just a heads up for the Mass Kiting Community. We have an extended Cape / Boston / MD crew heading to Hatteras for our annual trip April 25th - May 2nd. It's always a great trip and is fantastic as a jump start into the full New England season. It's usually still boot and glove season here in late April. So it's great to ride without the thick gear in Hatteras, and to get the rust out and start working on new stuff for the upcoming Mass season. So, I'm hoping a few of you will put together a house full of riders. As it's always great to ride and hang in a big group in hatteras. We are staying in Kinnakeet Shores, Avon, NC. Hatteras Realty (

Given the invitation I have just forwarded this to my fiance to see if I can get that scheduled. I just started a new job so I will need to put in for the time. This is also a great opportunity to have friends like Chris who moved away get in on a trip if he can make it. Maybe you all have friends like this that may consider the meet up.
Besides the normal I'll go as I am quick to do. Can we get an idea on who given advance notice can actually book this. I believe I can so need to see about reserving a residence.

If you guys get a place and can't fill it, let me know. A few folks from the DC/MD crew that we go to Hatteras with have friends that are interested in a house. Our house it full, but I've been getting some emails with interested folks. I stayed with a few of them last year for a couple days, they were all super nice and gung-ho riders.
Just another option as I know it can be difficult to commit to a house without having all your peeps lined up.
Oh yeah and try to stay nearby our house if you can...makes it easier to hook up for downwinders, riding in front of the house, etc....

I might be down, I'm already booked with my friend Petra Kanz (kite/windsurf instructor from NJ) and her gang the 18-25th, so maybe I'll just stay another week!
Depends upon my potential work situation in MA, we'll see.

There are quite a few Cape and Boston riders going already, plus our friendly MD/DC crew will be joining us. So, we'll have a big group this year.

Looks like there are 9 beds... 5 master bedrooms and a 4-bed room too. Swimming pool, Jacuzzi, etc. 5 min walk to both the sound and the ocean. Not that far from the Neka house.

I'll be in Avon for 3 wks April 11- May 4 if anyone needs a cheap place for just a nite or 2. it's a small modest house right on rte 12 (that's how I could afford it on my own for 3 wks!) near Dennis' house and the Avon pier. Neto might stay with me and the dog again for part of it. we had a blast last yr with the Boston/Cape/DC crew!

Hey Holly, whats the deal with a dog, pay a big deposit etc? Do they have weight limits? Like to know options as I may bring my dog. Thanks, John-

hey John,
some rentals allow pets, just check the rental company's website to find a pet friendly house. I believe most only allow one dog and there'll be an extra fee that covers the whole rental period- it was $75 last yr but went up to $80 or $90 this yr. My house is one of the only ones that has a fenced in yard which is why I like it despite the fact that it says in big letters "DIVE" on the front! :oops:

I think we already have at least one beginner in the house, who is planing to take some local lessons.
there are tons of kite schools down there and the flat water is just perfect to learn or improve.
We are a bit concerned about our style though..... the good news, as long you can hold a miller high life, you fulfill all style criteria!
I think most people are going to drive, since its cheap and you really need a car down there.

Yeeahh, no problem. It'd be great if you guys could put it together. Last year we had a fantastic extended crew down there. And it was a blast!
Let me know if you need any help finding a place nearby the house we've rented. We're near the launch at the end of Portside Drive in the Kinakeet Shores development, Avon, NC. In my opinion it is the best place to be when in Hatteras. My opinion only of course....
