Hey,

For those of you who are too new for the downwinder (which sounds awesome, I wish I could go):

I'm planning on getting out at least for early Sunday (before the wind picks up too much). Not sure where just yet, but I'm open to suggestions...

It's a N/NE wind, so as far as location options I was thinking
North: Nahant (long beach)
Cape: Waquoit Bay, or
RI/South: Ninigret Pond (Does anyone know how Ninigret does with N winds?) or Plymouth?

Any more experienced riders have any input here?

Thanks!

Jeff

wind for NE on the cape

I'm on the same page as Jeff. What would be a good place to kite on N/NE wind. I checked chapin but it says that Kiting is not allowed there when lifeguards are on duty.

Are there any other spots people could recommend on the cape?

north shore

i think nahant would the best place to kite on sunday
the wind will be side shore or side on 15 to 20 mph
wide open beach and no lifeguards

chapin might have lifeguards, rangers, and possible 35 mph winds
im gonna b at nahant all day come have fun
see ya there

I wouldn't do WB on a

I wouldn't do WB on a N/NE.

Chapin, or Nahant. watch the wind. Stick together, stay away from lifeguards. But I'm not sure how many beachers will be out in big winds. Sand hurts with winds over 25mph.

chapin

if we're allowed to go to chapin during the day, that's my vote. i would also love to do a downwinder tho.....is there anywhere that we could do a more newbie-friendly downwinder???

I will be at chapin / corporation / mayflower

I will be at Capin, Corporation or Mayflower all in West Dennis depending on wind and the lifegaurd situation. My guess is with rain winds north of 15 knots and coolish temps, the lifeguards if there are any out will not have a problem with kites.

I plan on going relatively early and staying until I have had my fill. It will be an outstanding day Smile

Pete

A vote for Nahant

I'm definitely down for Nahant if that works. I'd take the ride down to Chapin too, if that's the consensus... but my sense is that Nahant is better for a straight N/NE wind, and we don't have to worry about lifeguards. Also the wind up there looks like it will be a little lighter than Chapin which is good..

Plovers in Plymouth

Unfortunately the plovers are in PLY on long beach as well. I have not gone out on Long Beach since they shut down the crossover, so I am not sure how strictly the no kite rules are being enforced. Just thought you guys should have a heads up on the local situation. Good luck today.
