I stopped by on Monday to take my daughter swimming and saw one of the harbor patrol guys - picking up some trash. He said that overall things went pretty well on the weekend, but mentioned that there were a couple of complaints about a kiter who was boosting close to shore and flying his kite over beach-goers. This was down at the south end near the entrance to the ponds. He also said some people walked on and set gear on the beach grass.

To keep out access to this spot it's important to remember the following:

1. avoid launching and riding near swimmers and clammers. Ride up wind and get out of the swimming, clamming, launching and landing area.

2. stay out of the ponds (bird issues).

3. do not go cross the channel in front of boats or even close to boats. Stay out of the boat channel except when crossing.

4. do not ride too close to kayakers - and certainly do not boost over them.

5. stay off the beach grass.

6. lots of beginners at WB. For your safety and theirs get up wind of them and stay up there. give them some room - they need it.

Thanks,

Ed

Good luck with that. If its

Good luck with that. If its one thing that I have learned over the years, is that no matter what the rules, there are always those who feel that they don't apply to them. Whether by shear ignorance or just indifference. And when you approach them, bring your full metal jacket mentality.

WB on 7/4

Who / what agencies are responsible for access and law enforcement at WB. It might be worth being proactive and communicating this group's desire to encourage good behavior and maintain access for those riders that behave responsibly.

Right now we run the risk of a few bad apples spoiling the entire batch. Power boaters, kayaks, canoes, hiker, etc. don't face that problem.

MASSkiting folks

Jermy - please add these comments to the Wacky beach page

I think it would be nice to associate this group with kiters who do commit to the rules and overall good representation of the rest of us. Those who are indifferent probably have not signed up as they don't care much about knowing people, getting help, and progressing their kite ability.

Or they are traveling and in that case we can only hope to improve this site to get them the right info faster. But for the bulk of folks that participate here kudos as we really do communicate and police well.

Ed thank you for taking the time!

Thanks Ed!

I will add these rules to the WB page tomorrow (hopefully).

I was there for a few hours on Sunday, and did not notice anyone boosting near the pond entrance. In fact, Skipper was giving a lesson, and I think most of us were trying to stay away from that area in general.

@ OldC,
Lets let the locals keep the communication up with the authorities. No need to draw any more attention to ourselves.
