Season Opener at the Precinct

I wanted to thank Kirk, Allan and the Precinct, and Matt with Cisco Brewers for another terrific event. I think it shows that the kite community is tight. We are all good friends and enjoy each other's company on and off the water. Given the nature of our sport, the situations you find yourself in when another kiter can totally save your ass, it seems of paramount importance that we all know and respect each other. And then, when you are out on the water and you master that new trick, your friends cheer you on which makes you try even harder.

equipment failures and kiteloop transitions

Arrived at Mayflower, just 2 dudes there getting their gear out of the trunk: English guy who doesn't like to help you launch, and Scott, a retired New Yorker living in Orleans. Scott and I launch each other and I lead him over to the slicks near Chapin. I was really nailing some good kiteloop transitions. Felt good as I had been wanting to get those for a while. Some feel very powered, others not. The Best Taboo is a great looping kite.

Shit kiters Say

Here is what have so far:

You see that guy kook out?
Who wants to do a downwinder?
Watch out for the newbs?
Whats windsurfing?
Should I wear board shorts over my wetsuit Smile
Is the launch sketchy over there

it's gonna pick up, just wait.

should I use my 8 or 12?

that session was epic!

where's the beer?
Can you give me a launch?
>> This wind sucks
>> What size are you flying?
>> Where's the flat water?
>> I just saw a shark swimming in the shallows
>> etc...

2011 Roundup

Much like the previous years, kiteboarding and the associated social life driven by my recent acquaintances dominated my spare time. Travel in search of kiting spots took me to Martha's Vineyard, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, New York State, and the quest for the session took me to 31 different spots for 74 days of riding on the ocean, 6 days on snow. I had 11 days at Pleasure Bay, 7 at Winthrop, 6 each at Nahant, Mayflower and Horseneck.

Kiting in New England

I showed up at a beautiful beach on Cape Cod Bay, one kiter on the water. He came right over to me, overjoyed at having a little company. His name is Brian, he normally kites Corpus Christy. He says our water is cleaner. He offered me some food, his wife video taped us. The other beach goers were all hooting and hollering and watching with glee. Kiting in New England is nice because it's intimate, hardly ever crowded, most often the opposite, kiters looking for one another, with onlookers cheering us on. I have rarely experienced it any differently.

Web site features

I will keep a blog on ways to improve out web user experience.

Number One, I love what you've done with showing the myriad features available to users of masskiting. Can you leave each article up just a little longer so the user has time to read it. Good stuff!

Number Two, when you click on a link, have the new link open in another tab
