Revere Beach

Revere Beach

Long beach which is greatly affected by the tide, at low tide the beach extends far out from land there is hard packed sand, also good for landboarding or buggying. Great for beginners to experts. Winds tend to vary 10-20mph. South and SSW is the best direction. SSE is excellent. E brings good waves, but directly onshore.  N and NE are great with waves. NW winds are gusty and inconsistent stay away from this spot in those conditions.

Local Rules

NO WALKING WITH YOUR KITE IN THE AIR IN THE FENCED OFF AREAS. PLEASE DON’T KITE WITHIN 150 YARDS OF THE PLOVER NESTING AREA AND THE SAND DUNES! LETS ALL BE RESPONSIBLE KITERS and SELF POLICE OURSELVES and STAY AHEAD of any perceived THREATS that our presence may CAUSE. So on the HONOR SYSTEM I am asking all of you to NOT KITE in front of the FIESTA HOUSE but in front of DUNKIN DONUTS TO JUST A FEW HUNDRED YARDS PAST THE NORTHERN BATHHOUSE. Let’s all keep it closed to ourselves as a matter of being proactive to the situation.

Where to launch

Best place to launch is by the Dunkin Donuts.  Stay away from the piping plover habitats which are north of the nearby bathhouse on the beach.

Restrictions

SUMMER: Please stay away from lifeguarded areas, beachgoers and the Plovers nesting areas.

Tide Information

The water is choppy at high tide.  Low tide brings flatter water and smaller waves.  At low tideit is very shallow a ways out.

Some of the information on

Some of the information on the side is wrong. Revere is not facing SW, more like ESE. Also, a NE wind is not really onshore (maybe at a small stretch of beach on te south end). I'd say that E/SE is onshore. SW should be taken out of "Best Directions", it's super gusty/side-off in a direct SW.

I don't know how accurate you

I don't know how accurate you want to be but I think it faces SE.  SE wind is dead onshore, ESE (like yesterday) is just slightly side on from left.  SSW sideshore from right and gusty but doable.  SW looks sideshore on map but acts like slightly side off, due to curvature of beach, and is dangerous gusty because of the buildings that muck up the wind.  From what I've seen people kite there in S and SSW but stop if it goes SW.  I just don't want some beginner to read this info and go launch in a SW and get screwed.  Skipper could chime in here to confirm or deny.

Great beach for kiting.

Great beach for kiting. Beware of the muck zone just off shore. There is a huge amount of seaweed and what looks like bladderwort mass in the first 10 yards of water. Put your lines or kite down in that stuff and you will spend the next 30 min getting it off.
