Any N. Shore or NH kiters want to try Jenness (Rye) this weekend?
Sunday morning I scouted Jenness Beach in Rye NH and it looks like it would be a great place for kitesurfing provided the wind is blowing from the right direction. On Sunday it was coming from the southwest and it was more or less side/onshore.
There is a good amount of beach at high tide and plenty at low plus there is easy parking and you'll see a number of SUP's or surfers depending on wave height (most go to the wall in N. Hampton where I counted ~50 surfers on Sunday and the waves were nothing to write home about).
Wind looks strong (not sure how a pure west wind will work out) for this weekend so I'm thinking about doing some body dragging and then working on my water starts. Anyone interested in going?

wouldn't west be offshore?
Isn't it only going to be in the 20's this weekend?
Looks like it could be a great spot with enough south to the wind and a mid to low tide, I'd be game. Oh yeah about temperature, even assuming there's a nice sunny day in the 40s, remember that the water is also in the 40s and if you're bodydragging and working on waterstarts, plan on getting cold after a while, whatever suit you're wearing. I'm sure some of our NH masskiters will add their $0.02.
Yeah Joe, Jeness sucks in any west. It's only good in a southeast or a northeast at best. Besides either one of those directions Hampton beach is better. Jeness in a northeast for best direction in my opinion and believe me I have been to all of the area beaches. And don't even try to body drag in side offshore or anything close to offshore in this cold weather my man...
I have seen reports of good snow kiting on Squam and Winne. Styrofoam, fast and noisy but holds an edge.
It is a lot easier to use skis as a beginner. If you are using an inflatable, make sure you have the means to anchor the kite, with a weight bag, an ice screw, or both. Don't ride if the wind is strong. The models are predicting strong winds for Sunday. I may go up there to ride on Monday.
brave the cold and come to seabrook!! hahah I'm trying to convince myself to go despite the temps

Thanks for the input - after taking a look at the temp forecast there is no way I'm going in the water this weekend. Jay many thanks for letting me know which wind works best at Jenness - I hope the stars line up next time and I can give it a try because it looks like a great place to go if the wind is right.
Anyone up for snowkiting (or icekiting) this weekend? If there is snowpack on Sunapee or Winni I may give it a try.
