In the spirit of the finding cheap kite parts at West Marine thread where can I get a couple of kite pumps at the best price? I know they use to be available at the target/walmarts but last time I checked all the air mattresses became electric inflatable and they seemed to stop carrying them.

Also in the market for new booties but the kite pumps are more urgent.

Kite pumps

I have some extra new Best pumps at home (I think two), they are fine, you can have for a 6 pack of Harpoon IPA. I'm in Gloucester. PM me here if you want them.

Damn, totally called out for

Damn, totally called out for my laziness Smile

Keep the pump - I just can't find the time these days to make a trip outside the city unless there is wind involved.

Also, thanks for the offer DSZ but Gloucester is just too far!

Ended up ordering some online (my buddy needs one as well), shipped right to my door.

Your pump

I have your pump in my car. Gold Toyota Sienna van. I'm usually at Dog, Revere or down the Cape. Track me down if you see my car in the parking lot

West Marine has pumps also. I was looking so I know where to get one in a pinch. One was $20 and the other$40. The $40 had a gauge.

I finally got one after getting sick going through 3 cheapo pumps a year. Basically the description on the link is spot on.

Is it worth $20 more to get the 6" barrel?

If you are going top shelf anyway is it worth getting the big pump?

6" barrel = 3" radius Pie are

6" barrel = 3" radius
Pie are round, I mean square
3X3Xpie = about 27 square inches
to pump 8 psi would require you to apply
8psi X 27 sq in = 216 pounds of force
Difficult.

I did the same calc and was

I did the same calc and was also concerned about the big one. The 4 is fine. It is easy till the two or three last strokes and then I lean on it abit and my kites feel just right..quite firm but not ready to explode.

Even the 4 is big pump to carry and heavy, 6 would be too much.
