Hello from Vermont
I know it's not Mass but we share a border so what the heck. There's no resource like this for Vermont especially since stormboarding.com is down now(sad).
Having a lot of fun getting into this sport however an unseasonably warm and snowless winter has only provided me with one decent day of snowkiting however tomorrow does look promising.
Anyway hello and thanks for all the good info I've found already. If anyone needs snow and ice reports for Lake Champlain I'm happy to provide.
Yes please!! Is there ice at the sand bar? we are jonesin here:)
ditto, but I've just been hitting the water.
Tough winter here as well. South side of Sandbar set up for riding several weeks ago. North side only within the last week and a half.
Rode Saturday and gas holes were opening up on the south. A guy in a DN ice boat got a runner stuck in a hole. A guy on a Free Board (windsurfing rig) went in a hole half way.
Surface is soft and shell ice. Hard to edge. Either have VERY sharp skis, a switchblade on your snowboard, or skates.
rain is in the forecast for midweek. It was in the upper 30's both days over the weekend, so we need a good week of cold temps to get the surface "safe" again.
Anyone say Hatteras?
Welcome!
I am down just outside of Lake Placid NY and always looking for fellow snowkiters in the area. We have a few smaller lakes around me that I am told have a good 8-10 inches of ice. If you are ever gathering in a group, please let me know. It is about 1.5 hours away for me, but I am always looking for new people nearby. Please let me know!
Cheers!

Thanks for the report!! Lets think snow:)

I was out on mallets bay a few days ago. from an ice fishing hole it looked to be about 6 inches thick in the bay, I imagine sandbar is pretty much the same. We have gotten a few inches of snow the last couple days so if any of it survives the rain tomorrow it might turn into a decent surface that you can dig an edge into.
