yikes..hope they got him

yikes..hope they got him before dark..as we all know finding a kiter down (or anyone in the water ) during dark is next to impossible. at long point shouldn't he drift in with wsw unless he was way outside?

I think it was a false alarm.

I think it was a false alarm. A tourist thought a kiter was in trouble. My buddy who lives at Long Point said the CG bird and boats were looking until 9:00pm and then aborted.
He believes it was a false alarm.

Tourists

I was at Pine Point yesterday riding and a similar incident occured. There was some guy out windsurfing, probably only 30 yards off shore. You could tell he was learning, since his sail was in the water quite a bit, but he wasn't stuggling or panicking by any means. Before we know it, 3 firefighters were there waiving him in and a big crowd started to form on the beach. One guy walked out up to his needs in the water with his shoes and socks on screaming at him to come in. The guy eventually made his way in and he told them he was fine. Apparently someone called the authorities becuase they thought he was in trouble.

I was on mv this weekend and

I was on mv this weekend and didnt hear anything about it. Although I was hiding away in total seclusion and only venturing out for food and booze.

None the less it would be nice if people could get educated on this sort of thing. Its obviously impossible to educate the general public but it would be nice if at least rescue teams knew the signs of a kiter truly in trouble etc.
