I was there last February.

I was there last February. Wind is hit or miss, but it can be super sweet. Keep an eye on the meters and forecasts. Sometimes it's windier in the Keys, sometimes not. Dania Beach just South of Fort Lauderdale airport has a State Park that is friendly to kiteboarding. Ft. Lauderdale can be quite busy during the day, so you kind of have to be a commando and get out and stay out. I ended up doing a sunset session which was nice cause the beach goers had gone home mostly, so I was able to ride near shore where the nice waves were. The Keys though has that glassy smooth water I know you crave. For the deluxe ride, you can get on a boat and ride miles of turquoise flats. I launched from land which is tight and rocky: Whale Harbor in Islamorada. Further down Bahia Honda State Park is paradise. You have to have the right wind strength and direction. Same old story as always. But on a windless day, you just bask in the warmth and the light, it's quite a place!

And of course, if it's a West wind, then you need to high tail it to the West coast of FLorida
