Local knowledge needed.
I'm over from New Zealand visiting family in Maine, and i want to get some kiting in. i have the next couple of days free, and the forecast looks good for down south somewhere. If someone can help me out with some info on were and when, do's and don'ts it would be much appreciated
Welcome to the area. I don't know much about Maine kiting other than Pine Point at Old Orchard Beach. There's kiting in the metro Boston Area if you make it this way down south. Winds generally SW: Pleasure Bay-South Boston or Doggy Beach-Nahant, MA. You could start there. Pbay is sort of advanced level needed because the winds technically blow off-shore but is completely surrounded by land but down wind is a rocky kite unfriendly place to land. It is flat water and tends to get way too crowded some of us go to Doggy Beach Nahant for SW winds. It's not really a beginner friendly place and has lots of debris in the sand like clam beds and on occasion rusted sharp lober pots below the surface. I recommend you wear booties if you ride there and the beach is very narrow at high tide comes up to a large rock jetty. At low tide it becomes dangerously shallow BE VERY CAREFUL there! You should be proficient in riding upwind at both spots. Revere Beach works in any easterly wind. Stay away from the southern part of that beach and the launch is from the Dunkin Donuts to the Oak Island Bath House. There are protected areas of the beach for Piping Plovers. Do not rig near or fly your kite over them please.
See you on the water.

thanks for that. I have just check the forecast and it looks like the wind might sneak into pine point, if not we might head down.
