melvin village Sunday jan 20
Well now that we have a positive report from crabnebula on melvin whos in for sunday??
Ill be there in the morning prolly 8 or 9ish. Maybe a little earlier.
I'm shooting for it but I'll be in Naples, Maine. So I'll roll in about 11ish. Just saw the day, I'm only up for Sat not Sunday
If I'm not teaching lessons ill be there Sunday ( Jan 20 ).
I have one booked, but it might cancel.
So that said ill bring a big wind sock! From an airport.
Also, it is good riding but def. ice riding,
Not enough snow for carving with out scraping into the black ice.
Jumping is ok, but very limited as the ice can pop our edge out.
If your looking for simple cruising.... This def. a good spot!
Hope to see you all there
Trying to get out Sat and my smallest kite is a 9m so Melvin may not work for me. But I may be up there Monday with the lighter wind. Sunday is no good.
I will be there sunday !
Joe... If I'm there ill have a few 4,5,8-9 m kite that can borrowed.
Thanks, Zeb. When are you planning on going?
Will try to make it:)
Hi JOE...
i should be there pretty early, around 730-830 maybe 9 at the latest, so long as the winds are stronger, and I dont have lessons, it will be last minute.
But if I am there, your sure to know
Thanks Zeb...I'll let you know if I can get up there on Sunday
I am going to try to be there around noon. What is a good place to GPS and how is parking?
I'll be there in the early am on Sunday
Ill be there MAYBE....pending winds and there aggression. I have a lesson maybe 3...so my kites are likely going to be used, however, maybe some will be around joe.
anyways,
hope that all have fun and that the warmth comes in as that will really help the surface conditions
What are the surface conditions like?
Not sure what the surface is like there but Quaboag is FREEKIN AWSOME!! Going on day 4 there, so I'm not heading to Melvin, but might be worth a road trip for you guys if it is still black ice under powder
Hitting Massabesic instead - Have a great time up north.
I am feeling the pull to horseneck, sunny, hi 47, gale force wind, 10 foot seas...
Ice.
Melting very fast, almost 1-2 inches melted today.
Most snow that was supporting good edge-ability is now in a cloud swiftly on the way to England.
If your on a board... It's kinda crappy
If your in race skis, or ice skates,... It's ok,
Wish I could have joined you guys today but I decided to stay local. Ice is melting here too but we had enough to ride throughout the morning until the winds overpowered us on 9's and 7's. The soft powder found yesterday turned mushy and some to slush but all it did was slow us down a bit. Tons of fun regardless.
Incoming snow looks great!
I'm sick of ice.
My only fear is they with the super cold temps, the snow in powder form may just blow off, albeit some will get packed down!
Lets hope for the best

I may be able to do a couple hours sat or monday. Sunday is lookin the best wind wise so ill be out there most of the day.
