Nahant harassment

Apparently a new kiter was verbally harassed around the bathhouse at the north end of Nahant's Long Beach while he was changing in his wetsuit for a water lesson yesterday. Among other things he was told to get the f#@k out of there by what he described as a bunch of 17-year-olds and he is not light weight. There was no physical altercation and the lesson was simply moved a little further south on the beach.

This is hopefully an isolated incident but this mentality bitterly reminded me of where I grew up and if that bathhouse is their hangout turf I'd recommend we stay away from it (e.g. stay between chairs 11 and 12) and avoid any direct confrontation that may feed them with a mis-placed sense of purpose. I would hate to see a bunch of bored kids take on kite-slashing as a summer hobby.

If you have a tendency to get hot-blooded, this is a plea to bite your tongue, walk away, and take it out on the waves. These kids don't hate you nearly as much as they hate themselves.
