Playa Del Carmen Mexico kite info needed
Hi
I am going to Riu Tequila Playa Del Carmen Mexico with the all family to all includes resort on 06/29/2010 and need some help with information on wind and kite size for this time of the year
Also good spots to kite and beach rules if there is any.
Thanks,
Guy
This guy, my old instructor from Cabarete, Dave Furchgott, owns shops all over the Yucatan. He organizes down winders and stuff. Drop him a line, he's pretty available on line.
He's also on Fbook.
Guy, you could also contact my friends Joe and Christy. They live and kite down there.

Go where the wind is
Saw this post and figured I owe a session report to Jean who I've yet to meet but certainly owe a few beers to for connecting me with Joe who lives with his family in Puerto Aventuras.
I took a trip to Puerto Aventuras in April (just south 15 minutes south of Playa) and connected via phone with Joe who gave me the scoop on the local kite spot in PA. There is a beach at the Omni which is kiteable with both butter flats (behind a breakwater) and nice rollers coming over an outer reef. I stayed one week and got two light wind sessions in that trip. I so wish I had my 13m CB3 which I just added to my arsenal post trip with me but my setup still had me out with a lightwind twin.
I did make one session at XPU HA which is another 10 minutes south of PA. It was a saturday and subsequently crowded so I wish I stayed at the Omni / PA spot.
Unfortunately my schedule with Joe & Christy did not align but I'm sure they would have made for some great company out on the water.
Jean, thanks again.
Guy, if you go down look up joe and hopefully you can kite this amazing spot at the Omni. He'll direct you to the launch area....
Bill.

here what Dave said:
Hola Guy!
For sure Greg!!! He was my student in Cabarete about 3 years ago, actually we had a funny story together,
, he wanted to kite for the ight winds and windsurf on the strong winds...and apparently now he sold all of his equipment of WS!!! ( funny....due to he was a die hard Wsfer.....)
Unfortunately, this time of the year, there is not much wind in PDC, we are in the Dominican since june the 1st, and we stay here untill sept the 1sth....one of my schools remains open but this is in Tulum, 40 min away from Riu Tequila....if you are bringing your kite, bring the biggest, you might score some kiting time, at the end of the afternoon, or early in the morning...other then that, just if you are lucky....but hey....is better then nothing, right?? Please let me know, if there is anything else I can do for you...ok?
saludos
after his answer i am thinking to pospond to other date
