Wind is looking like it should be pretty good this weekend, a bit chilly but solid wind. Sunday is looking pretty solid West so should be cross shore at Matunuck but probably hit up Roger Wheeler/Georges since its about 1/2 mile from my house. Saturday is looking like there is a bit of N in it so I am thinking maybe ninigret or napa tree point? I am still a beginner and cant stay up wind yet so I need a place where I can walk back up the beach, but I am hoping that a solid day with good wind and calm waters and Ill be getting the hang of it. Any thoughts? anyone else planning to go out?

Mid day will probably be best

Mid day will probably be best as there will be the most beach, since it will be low tide.

Looks like the wind shifted

Looks like the wind shifted again to more north so roger wheeler will probably be out. Napatree point will probably be really good but its gonna be so cold I might pass on the session tomorrow. Well see how it feels in the morning.

When you going out next?

Hey, Let me know when you're going out next. I tried kiting at narragansett beach last week but it was a total onshore and with the waves it was damn near impossible to make it off the beach. I was thinking about going to George's tomorrow depending on how cold it ends up being and how gusty the wind ends up being. Shoot me a text the next time you head out and i'll try to make it.

Nowhere near fairfield

Hey, I'm from New Haven/ West haven. Sorry I couldn't go out today. I found out this morning that I had to complete a form and get it signed by two professors by tomorrow in order to graduate in May. This weekend is looking alot warmer and the winds will be more from the south which should be cleaner.

Very up in the air still...

Very up in the air still... but judging from what I am seeing right now on Magicseaweed I might be running out to Napatree point on friday mid day, well have to see how it holds up and what the temp looks like but its possible. And as of right now looks like sunday could be decent at scarborough, same hold true though, will have to keep an eye on the wind and temp

Just got in from an awesome

Just got in from an awesome early morning session. Was in the water at 8am and out around 10. Wind is up... Air is Warm... Sun is out... didnt even feel the water. Was out on the 7m cruising around nice and powered.

Get out there if you can, I think its gonna last all day... wish I didnt have anything else to do today.

Wow it is great working with

Wow it is great working with other kiters... Got out of my internship this afternoon and was able to get out for a second session. Was back on the water around 2, again on my 7m nicely powered. Got my first taste of waves too and cant wait to get a surfboard. And then at 3:15 the wind died... went from riding the 7 with just a bit of work to not even being able to ride the 11... who knows...

Had a great session, hope you guys did too!

Looks like this weekend has some potential, if any of you guys make your way down to RI let me know.

Weekend is looking good.... I

Weekend is looking good....

I am planning on hitting up Georges/Roger Wheeler both Saturday and Sunday. Low tide is around 1:30 ish so I am planning on 10:30-11ish Saturday and maybe a bit earlier Sunday as I have to do something in the evening. Hoping to spend all day at the beach on Sat and possibly Sunday too. Havent decided where I will park. If there is some east in the wind I will prob park at Roger Wheeler Pavilion... other wise over by Georges. Just look for the silver subaru wagon with the box on top and stickers on the windows. If no one else is out yet Ill def have a anchor in the ground marked by my kite bag.

Sunday there could be some waves but Im still planning on Georges/Roger Wheeler as Im not quite ready for real waves.

If anyone is around, here is my number 203-984-9706, just send me a text or call. My house is right by the beach so I have cold beer for after the session.

Weekend is looking like it

Weekend is looking like it might be doable. Saturday looks pretty light and I have to paint a set of wheels for my car so I prob will spend the day drinking summer ales and spray painting.... but looks like Sunday, Monday, Tuesday could be shaping up to be pretty good.

Free all day sunday... if Monday shapes up to be really nice I'll prob play hooky, and then maybe tuesday afternoon evening. Planning on going over to East Matunuck beach (the main big beach not the small fishermans area) hoping to put sometime in on my new surfboard and beat myself up.

Numbers at the top of the thread... hit me up if your in the area or want to join... or show up and look for the yellow kite.

We should be careful about

We should be careful about decoupling, I think the inner bay would be better.

Just checked Roger Wheeler...

Just checked Roger Wheeler... The Wind is Up! but the fog is here too... cant see shit... There were no waves sneaking into Roger Wheeler so I am gonna grab some food and run over to Matunuck in search of some ridable waves, hopefully the fog burns off a bit by then too.

Drove around all morning and

Drove around all morning and kept waiting for the Fog to burn off which it never did... Finnally around 1:30 I said screw it and put a kite up. Ended up putting up the 11... the wind was alot lower then they had called for.  Brent came down from EG and cruised around with me.

We  had a pretty good session, rode for a solid two hours before the wind dropped off a bit.  Played around on the TT finless which was quite interesting. Decided butterslides arent worth riding finless. But backrolls are really fun.

Finless will definitelty teach you how to edge correctly... and makes transitions really fun, but if your not on your game it can be annoying. Tried my first few backrolls, which are really fun. Face planted one... crashed a couple others... landed one but didnt have the kite in the right postion to ride away.

As of right now the forecast for next weekend could be fun... too far away to really tell, but well see

I woulda thought that SE

I woulda thought that SE would be clean at Scarborough, but maybe too onshore.  It looks like ESE is straight onshore.  Matunuck looks a little more sideshore in those winds, but port out instead of starboard.  I'm just looking at a map though, not speaking from experience.

It could be clean at

It could be clean at scarborough... I dont really know. The only time I tried to ride there is was a really shifty ENE wind. Scarborough will probably have waves as well... but I have heard that Matunuck is cleaner. Also since I ride a surfboard regular at Matunuck I will be riding offshore heelside so it  shoudl be easier to get out.

My plan is to go check Matunuck around 9ish and decide from there....

Depending on how the weather works out Im gonna try and put a whole day in... hopefully waves in the morning and then maybe some flat water at Roger Wheeler/ Georges in the afternoon. Well have too see how it works out.

If you heading down this way send me a text or give me a call. I dont remember if I have your number.

Anyone else who is interested in conditions can do the same. My house is about 1/2 mile from roger wheeler and maybe 1 mile from Scarborough so if we end up meeting at the beach your welcome to come back to my place after to change and have a beer.

Had a really fun session at Scarborough today. Wind was Cranking! Was out on the new surfboard catching some waves and havin a great time. Waves were pretty choppy and messy... but there were definitely some good ones that rolled through...

Lookin like its gonna be windy again tomorrow and should be clear. Probably gonna go out at Georges for some Flat water... but havent fully decided.

Glad to hear you had a good

Glad to hear you had a good sesh. I got there around 1p and there was a guy coming off complaining about hitting a rock. With those conditions I didn't want to worry about ruining my board too.

So I went to Narraganset pier and tried to make a go of it there. The wind was all over the place. It was total bust. If it weren't for my mothers home cooking, it wouldve been a really bad day.

Had a great session Sunday

Had a great session Sunday 4/17 at Georges. Got there a little late to Devon and Brent ending their sessions. Saw two kites over at pt. Judith lighthouse/ cronin fishing area. Any one over there or know who was? I don't know what Brent's forum name is on here but I would love to see those pics he took on sunday. Maybe we should start  a post within this one of phone numbers and preferred conditions, places so that if anyone goes out or finds some unpredicted wind we can send out group texts, cuz kiting with people is alot more fun than kiting alone. My number is (203) 671-RICK(7425). I've only got a 12m but am down for any day between 15 and 25mph winds. I'm also down for any beaches from second beach, newport to napatree, westerly. Or anywhere in Mass or CT with a day's notice. Hit me up if you head out, my current schedule is usually very flexible.

Pt Judith Sunday

Was judging the NEISA Dinghy Champs this weekend at Pt. Judith and saw several kites out on Sunday.  Thanks to those kiters for staying out of our course.  One of the coaches took this shot, figure I would post here in case the rider looks.

I was out there with the

I was out there with the yellow kite. Did my best to stay out of your way. Although there was definitely a part of me that wanted to get out there and race some of the sailboats.... Hope you guys faired ok when the wind picked up sunday afternoon. I managed to snap the mini 5th saftey line on my 7m ( was lit at 3pm) and we almost had a kitemare with a kiter on a 12m... that wind came out of now where.

Hopefully brent doesnt mind but here is a link to his album with all the pictures he took from the weekend. We had a great weekend. Scarborough on saturday and Georges on Sunday. Had a really fun downwind run from Georges to Roger Wheeler, where you guys were, in the shore break.... getting back up to Georges was a bit of a pain.

http://s1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa362/shiloh568five/Kiteboarding%20April%2015-17/

Looked like some of your sailers were having fun surfing into Galilee. Couldnt have asked for a much better weekend wind wise.

I know most the guys who were out on Sunday... so if you had any issues or want some more info just PM me.

Best wind direction for horseneck

I've been dying to hit horseneck and may be able to pull it off tomorrow - does it work if breeze is west or even northwest? What about tides? Looks like there may be some small leftover waves tomorrow which could line up well.

Horseneck is good in any

Horseneck is good in any tide, though the waves are cleaner and steeper in an outgoing tide.  I like parking at the town lot at the end of Cerry and Webb Lane, good until Memorial Day.  West is best - sideshore and strong.  I expect tomorrow to be a banner day.  If it goes WNW, it gets a little tricky.  It's side off wind, so the waves get cleaner, but the wind gets gustier, kite handling becomes more delicate.  NW and the wind totally shuts down, you need to go to Mayflower.  Hope to see you tomorrow.
