RI Kiting
Wind is looking like it should be pretty good this weekend, a bit chilly but solid wind. Sunday is looking pretty solid West so should be cross shore at Matunuck but probably hit up Roger Wheeler/Georges since its about 1/2 mile from my house. Saturday is looking like there is a bit of N in it so I am thinking maybe ninigret or napa tree point? I am still a beginner and cant stay up wind yet so I need a place where I can walk back up the beach, but I am hoping that a solid day with good wind and calm waters and Ill be getting the hang of it. Any thoughts? anyone else planning to go out?

sounds good .will call you tomorrow
Hey, Let me know when you're going out next. I tried kiting at narragansett beach last week but it was a total onshore and with the waves it was damn near impossible to make it off the beach. I was thinking about going to George's tomorrow depending on how cold it ends up being and how gusty the wind ends up being. Shoot me a text the next time you head out and i'll try to make it.

Hey, I'm from New Haven/ West haven. Sorry I couldn't go out today. I found out this morning that I had to complete a form and get it signed by two professors by tomorrow in order to graduate in May. This weekend is looking alot warmer and the winds will be more from the south which should be cleaner.
@Devon,
Have fun bro. Last I saw you were ripping it up and staying upwind nicely!
@Devon,
Have fun bro. Last I saw you were ripping it up and staying upwind nicely!
Im gonna try and make it down there tuesday. Lookin like late morning will be blowing.the best. May be to early to tell but the forecast looks good
Tuesday would fit my schedule better too
I've got time on Monday, I have yet to kite Matunuck, would love to join.
We should be careful about decoupling, I think the inner bay would be better.
Welcome to New England in the Spring!
How'd it go? We got skunked at Horseneck, then kited PLeasure Bay which was great.
I will be going to Scarborough beach early afternoon. Who is in?
I woulda thought that SE would be clean at Scarborough, but maybe too onshore. It looks like ESE is straight onshore. Matunuck looks a little more sideshore in those winds, but port out instead of starboard. I'm just looking at a map though, not speaking from experience.
Glad to hear you had a good sesh. I got there around 1p and there was a guy coming off complaining about hitting a rock. With those conditions I didn't want to worry about ruining my board too.
So I went to Narraganset pier and tried to make a go of it there. The wind was all over the place. It was total bust. If it weren't for my mothers home cooking, it wouldve been a really bad day.
Was too busy at home to make the trek to RI this time around, but I do like kiting those waters.
Had a great session Sunday 4/17 at Georges. Got there a little late to Devon and Brent ending their sessions. Saw two kites over at pt. Judith lighthouse/ cronin fishing area. Any one over there or know who was? I don't know what Brent's forum name is on here but I would love to see those pics he took on sunday. Maybe we should start a post within this one of phone numbers and preferred conditions, places so that if anyone goes out or finds some unpredicted wind we can send out group texts, cuz kiting with people is alot more fun than kiting alone. My number is (203) 671-RICK(7425). I've only got a 12m but am down for any day between 15 and 25mph winds. I'm also down for any beaches from second beach,newport to napatree,westerly. Or anywhere in Mass or CT with a day's notice. Hit me up if you head out, my current schedule is usually very flexible.

Check the shout box, we go to Horseneck Beach in Westport Mass a lot. 617.974.6308
Was judging the NEISA Dinghy Champs this weekend at Pt. Judith and saw several kites out on Sunday. Thanks to those kiters for staying out of our course. One of the coaches took this shot, figure I would post here in case the rider looks.

This one also has kites
I've been dying to hit horseneck and may be able to pull it off tomorrow - does it work if breeze is west or even northwest? What about tides? Looks like there may be some small leftover waves tomorrow which could line up well.
Horseneck is good in any tide, though the waves are cleaner and steeper in an outgoing tide. I like parking at the town lot at the end of Cerry and Webb Lane, good until Memorial Day. West is best - sideshore and strong. I expect tomorrow to be a banner day. If it goes WNW, it gets a little tricky. It's side off wind, so the waves get cleaner, but the wind gets gustier, kite handling becomes more delicate. NW and the wind totally shuts down, you need to go to Mayflower. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Mid day will probably be best as there will be the most beach, since it will be low tide.
