I wonder if I broke through

I wonder if I broke through the ice while on a snowboard, If I could ride it over the water to safety?

There was a great video I saw

There was a great video I saw here, but don't know how to find it, of a guy riding on what looks like a river and he heads right for the open water and is jumping and riding no problem, but you have to have about 25-30 mph. I have done it on a field with a brook running through the middle pretty cool feeling every thing gets real smooth:) As far as ice safety there is still plenty of ice out here, Indian will still be safe but will be hard to get on if we get a lot of rain. The level of the lake will rise with a lot of rain making the ice float and the shore open up just need to take one giant step. There is 12-18" of ice no problem:)

NICE! Thanks for finding that

NICE! Thanks for finding that Johnny. The riding on the lakes will be like riding on water between the heavy snow and the rain it will weigh down the ice and the snow will turn to slush. have to put trash bags in my boots like back in elementary school:)

Bob, Sounds like a

Bob,

Sounds like a plan.....Chris and hit Ninigret on Tuesday to ride a good hour before the gusts came. 13M with 26-g34 was way too much for me. On a good note though, the water temp is easily tolerable now.

Any ideas what Quaboag's up to? If its slushy enough I am in for a little slush session on a board. We'll skim right across that stuff.......

What's up guys. I am really looking to get out and try snowkiting tomorrow. Aren't there any fields north west of the city that are covered with enough snow?

Another 4" of snow overnight

Another 4" of snow overnight (Friday) and I checked the local ice yesterday...take a look at the pictures. I am thinking the ice around here is still plenty safe. Over 18" of ice left on the ponds around here!!!![img_assist|nid=3725|title=Ice depth|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=480|height=360]

On a sadder note Indian

On a sadder note Indian filled up with about 3' of rain and melting snow so the ice is about 20' from the shore. If we get a strong SW it will push it against the shore in front of the Y and we can get back on it but if the wind changes it may drift to the other side and that would be a long walk back:)
