Suggestions for a new Surfboard

I currently have a Liquid Force Rawson Skate. I bought this board because i grew up surfing and it is as close to a real surfboard as i could find for kite surfing. I wanted a board that would feel very muck like surfing. I wanted to avoid a kite surfboard that was heavy and stiff. However, the Skate has not help up to kiting well at all. I landed a bit flat on a jump last week and nearly broke the board in half and will probably only be ridable for one or two more sessions before it breaks in half.

So now I am looking for a new board. Ideally i will find a board that will hold up better. I want to be able to jump and ride waves when it is windy. I would also like to use the board for light air. I am looking for a board that will work with and without straps. I am about 200lbs. Any suggestions?

I was looking at the 2010 Naish Custom Wave Fish.
It is listed pretty cheap today here: http://www.realdod.com/

Any other boards to consider?

Anyone around that can demo naish boards?

I was looking at that board

I was looking at that board today too, it looks sweet. Haven't demoed it but I've heard it's about the shape, size, construction etc you want in a kiting board.

Naish Fish @ Real

Two good experienced kiters I know each bought one of those two weeks ago in Hatteras and loved them in the ocean. One remarked how he parked the kite and was able to surf the waves easily. Not sure how good they would be for lightwind.

Demo or maybe just check out a broad tomorrow?

I am thinking of skipping work to kite at revere/nahant or maybe even head to chapin tomorrow. I decided to hold off on the naish fish for a bit to look at other boards. Anyone have one i could demo or just take a good look at? I would rather not buy blindly...

Best Thruster and Naish Global

I have both the 2009 Best Thruster and just picked up a 2010 Naish Global 6'0". I've had a great time on both boards but they are definitely different. The Naish is a quad fin setup which seems much faster, handles the chop well and doesn't bounce, and carves well but not super tight snappy turns. The Best is a little fuller shape forward so better in less breeze, a bit slower but turns on a dime, and points upwind insanely well. Id say the Best is better for lighter wind and smaller waves whereas the Naish is the ride for bigger days.

I've taken the straps off the Best and am going to keep that as my strapless ride on marginal days but when its game on the Naish is definitely the board of choice.

It is tough to try before you

It is tough to try before you buy around here. I was in the same boat as you...but I had zero chance at trying anything. So I just went with a recommendation. Kind of a gamble since my last board I bought with out trying was just OK. But kite surfboads are getting better. Less pure surf and more kitesurfing.

I got an Airush Compact 5'6 from Ocean Extreme Sport (in FL). One of the cape guys works there in the winter and he highly recommended boards from Airush.

I have the Wainman 6'1. Sexy

I have the Wainman 6'1. Sexy board and rides great. I know a lot of people who like them. However....I AM NOT an accomplished kite surfer. I just picked it up this year to start working it into my rotation. Probably have only put 6 sessions on it strapless. But I really like it so ask around see what other people say!

I second Wainman

I have the Wainman 6.0 wide...I really like it. It seems indestructable too.

Airush really "gets" the

Airush really "gets" the surfboard thing, the Compact is sick. Those Best thruster boards are on sale for a reason, I always thought they were a direct copy of the Caution Trespass anyway. The Trespass 6'0 is a really good board, just a little heavy for my taste, same with last year's Wainmans. Wainman's new surf lineup is awesome. The Shortstick is Best's best surfboard to date and I think would work really well around the Cape area. I love that board, it's so quick. http://www.oceanextremesports.com/catalog/best-shortstick-56-surfboard-2...

Just my .02 cents Smile
