I will be using the board for long distance kite crossings, not surfing, so I care most about the boards stability, its ability to function well in over & under powered conditions, and smoothing out the chop.  If you don't have a board for sale, please give me a suggestion of one you like.  I am 190lbs.  Thanks!

Roger you gonna start kiting accross the sound instead of taking the steamship?

Hey Eric!  I just got my new

Hey Eric!  I just got my new boat (22' center console), so no more steamship for me!  I put it in the water last week and been using it to get back and forth.

Last saturday we had a nice downwinder from Lucy Vincent to Katama in 6' swell.

I kited from Falmouth to the Jaws Bridge last summer on my little TT, just looking for a better distance board to starting doing 30-40 miles between all the island and Newport etc...

Looks like great wind the next few days, ENJOY!

Roger

Airush Sector 60. I couldn't

Airush Sector 60. I couldn't believe how it hugged the choppy ocean water and went upwind like crazy. It's more of a distance board than a race board. I know Robert has one so maybe he can chime in?

Sectormania

Yes, I've found the sector 60 V1 does well in the sounds swell in front of Mashpee. Was out there over weekend in 20-25mph and handles the swell nicely, even while purely riding the fin. Starts to feel like riding an ocean liner when wind gets into upper 20's but is a really solid board for the sound because when wind dies you can actually ride it downwwind well while you swing your kite around to make apparent wind for it. The 60 is large enough to stand straight up on while going downwind and the board will not sink. Board doesn't really smooth out the chop, you try to ride on fins above the chop. If I was getting another I might consider a sector 52 V2, probably better top end. Mesaman, you ar welcome to try my board. Any demoes available Brian?

Sector or Choptop

I'm looking for a lightwind surfboard that will be fun in the waves and can be ridden strapless. Did you look at or try the Choptop before getting the Sector? Does the Sector carve well? The Choptop 5'8" sounds like a pretty good light air ride, but so does the Sector. I ride a 6' Naish with straps when its blowin so I don't need something with high end range. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.

choptop

Haven't tried the choptop but hear good things about that board. Haven't tried sector 52. Sector 60 is pretty stiff and slow turning in the small waves I have tried it in, its more of a light machine and long distance cruiser, even  in the 52 width.
