I just bought an incomplete light wind plank. I need to get a set of fins, looking to pick up something cheap. I guess I really only need 2.

Ditch the fins

If it's truly a light wind board, I'd reccomend trying it without fins. Fins create a lot of drag and limit how light of winds you can ride in. Personally I ride my lightwind plywood board finless and it's really fun...almost like a skim board. It's got such flat rocker that I can get up wind no problem too.

how do you like the my ply?

How do you like the my ply board? How is the weight vs. other door style boards? I am contemplating ordering a mammoth.
Thanks
Pete

it is heavy for sure. I've

it is heavy for sure.

I've been on it for 4 sessions now. I really like it, gets me going in very light wind with my 12m. Been riding finless which seems to work ok, I can stay upwind. Tough to beat for the price. I had to save coin b/c i just ordered a high wind board, couldn't also drop $700+ on a plank.

Let me know if you want to try it out. I'll probably be on the cape over the weekend.

thanks fore the feedback.

Good to know it works in very light wind. It was my thought exactly to get the big board over a bigger kite for light wind. Big kites are costly, slow and can be dangerous if the wind does pick up. I figure $150 plus some hardware from another board I already own should set me up well.
I'm not at the level yet where I am throwing down tricks that involve spinning so the weight of the board is not critical.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one.

Thanks

Pete

if you have existing straps

if you have existing straps make sure you let Joe know your desired measurements for the inserts, the stock measurements are for NSI straps which are wide.

Thanks

Yes I did talk to him about the spacing, 8 1/2 inches for foot straps 13 inches apart. The only thing I will need to swap out of my existing set up are the set screws. He uses SAE 10-32 T Nuts and I have 6 mm screws. A quick trip to the hardware store for some stainless steal screws will set me up though.
