Its 4th of July w/end and worth reminding all the resident and itinerant kooks
at WBay that the "rules" as outlined in the Beaches section are particularly important to follow at this juncture. Families will be out in force there this weekend. Please do not launch from first parking lot unless you are fully confident with your launch and can stay away from the other beachgoers, its better to launch farther upwind past the second parking lot after crossing over the creek at entrane to Sage Lot Pond, that way you have plenty of shallow water and open space downwind of you. Please don't cross the marked channels unless you are advanced and don't jump or linger in channels. Respect the rights of all other baygoers and give them right of way. In case you didn't see the signs, the gate to Wills Work Rd is now closed and locked promptly at 8pm! See you down there.

All kidding aside, I am

All kidding aside, I am trying to understand the dynamics of closing a gate when people are still enjoying the beach at sunset.

Gate closing

Yeah, 8pm locking of gate at entrance to Rd is not ideal but authorities
at the Reserve felt soemthing needed to be done. This Spring and early summer people have been partying at night and leaving a huge amount of trash and debris etc at beach. It has gotten out of control and this led to locking of gate. One work around is to park at South Cape Beach with sticker or move your car there after 5pm and just walk back to Bay for about 15 minutes along South Cape Beach to finish your late session. Within a month the Sun will set soon enough to make this a nonissue.

At least we may see fewer

At least we may see fewer rusty nails and broken bottles everywhere. I wish we could do an event there. GNAR Rules. Everyone show up at 5am fill the parking lot with nothing but mass kiters, and break out the grills and make breakfast. My best motivation starting out was seeing Jhonny D and Jermy throw down at the bay, and being able to ask some questions and just hang out with experienced riders. It makes a big impact on new riders.

kiting in the channel

I don't know if you know this masshole, but I was driving my boat in the channel on july 4th and this crazy kiteboarder on a surfboard of all things cut right in front of my boat and jumped right in the air, then cut back and did it again! I think he was flying something called an obsession. If you see this guy again, remind him of the "rules" you just posted. Funny, he looks alot like the guy in your picture. I think he may have a deathwish. Next time I'm gunning it and letting my prop make clamfood out of him.

Harumphhh!

I saw that also!

I saw that also! Unbeleivable. But was he lingering? Or getting right through that channel? Wasn't it that day you were leaving early before the session was over? Whoever it was, maybe it was worth it to entice your fifth post of your masskiting career. Sometimes I think your boat is a kite magnet, or maybe its your wife's camera.

Did you see the DZ board posting on NEKA? When are you going to get that DZ board of yours on the water?

Another great late day session at the Bay this Weds afternoon. Marshall, Tom and George weren't working and got the early inconsistent stuff, then George and I got a great 5-6pm session including Soundside. All rules applied.
