They said it's neoprene

They said it's neoprene bottoms... prolly like a 3-5mm. I wonder how long that will hold up?

That would probably wear away

That would probably wear away pretty quickly not the best to use neoprene. I'm online shopping now for a new pair.

Tan lines....

Don't feel strange, let those little pigggies wiggle in the sun, then go w a straplees surfboard then no tan lines at all. Wink

the five toed boot does look cool though imho if you have to wear something.

I wear Vibram shoes while

I wear Vibram shoes while kiting (with kiteboard straps, barefoot in wake-style bindings) and love them.

I have a pair of the "Five Finger Classic" model. They do not have the strap over top of the foot which I find more comfortable.

Sand

How are they working out sandwise? I was told that short booties (which these are not) collect sand in them easily. I had some watershoes that I was using for a while and they still have a ton of sand in them....
looking for your input

5 Fingers...

So I wore my 5 fingers kiting down in Hatteras. They were not the Sprints, which I think you have pictured. They were the KSOs. My first and only session the stitching split in two different places. I was bummed... spending $85 for shoes I thought I could run in and kite in, just to have them break on my first session, damn. I think that the stitching on the top is too delicate to hold up with straps. But the beginning of my sesh I was using them strappless with a skimboard and they worked great.

Ilya still wears his kiting and they have not seen signs of tearing. I'm pretty sure he uses the Classic.

I use a O'Neill Superfreak Tropical Split-Toe shoe and they've held up for kiting for 2 years now... wear them just about every session. They don't have all 5 toes separate, but having the big toe helps with balance a little bit.

Update...

i just brought the ones that split back to the store and got a new pair for free. Different model cause they didn't have mine in the right size. The construction is different, seams in different places. Soles are different too. Psyched to have new ones!!

City Sports on Comm. 2 runs

City Sports on Comm. 2 runs in them since ant I think I like these better. They hug the rest of my foot more, and there is no bungee thing in the heel.

I go barefoot as much as

I go barefoot as much as possible cause i hate boots. will even ride my twin over rocks and shells so I can go barefoot and not cut up my feet. kind of tricky in onshore wind!

but in 25 yrs of water sport by far the best ones I have tried are atans

http://www.boardseekermag.com/equipment_reviews/equipment/Atan-Boots-064...

isthmus now sells them in the us, so you don't have to order them from overseas.

I use the 3mm all winter and they are plenty warm if I use a wide velcro strap on the boot over my wetsuit leg so no water flushes
