How about a clinic with some old school guys on some backroll kiteloop???
looks like we're all chasing the backroll kiteloop
Tyson throws a ton of Kiteloops, He usually just does it with a straight pop instread of a back roll and he does it as a transition
I have been trying these as they are less intimidating and you can tell where the hell you are!
there are some good ones on this vid from Sunday.
the trick you slowed down... just a backroll & grab, right? I like the way it looks... cool style. doesn't have another name, does it?
btw, Phil, that video kinda makes it look like you have a man-crush on Tyson

most recently cornered the downloop transition
what hurts most is when I do a backroll and i lose track of which way is which and i steer the kite the wrong direction and land in 6 inches of water… i either need to bail on rolls or buy an impact vest.
I still need to perfect timing the load and pop with sending the kite so my jumps can be twice as high. I think a smaller board would help too…
Jean,
Keep the Kite lower on backroll and dont send it like you are boosting, let your rail do the work for you on a back roll.
You are far less likely to send the kite back into a loop with No whip and the kite sit at 50-60 degrees.
Option two, let go of your back hand with front hand centered on the bar.
From a Guy who used to loose track during a back roll and go SPLAT!
Favorite Trick: Moby Dick

Favorite Trick: FS 540 w/ indy grab
Current Trick I'm working on: BS 720's
Most Recent Trick: FS 720 w/ indy grab
Trick that hurts: unintentional backroll kiteloop
Next Trick: unhooked backroll
You mean back and frontrolls with a grab right....720's and 540's are a different trick all togeather.
...I don't think so. I was under the impression that when you send the kite and rotate thats a spin, but if you park the kite/load/pop thats a roll.
Do I have that backwards?
They are all variations of a frontroll/backroll. To do a fs or bs 360, 540, 720 you have to be unhooked and pass the bar.
Noted. Thanks for settin me straight.
So when you pull a 7 the safety leash must wrap around your body... what happens when you let go of the bar in that situation?
Favorite Trick: backroll to toeside w/ indy grab
Current Trick I'm working on: double frontroll
Most Recent Trick: double backroll w/ indy grab
Trick that hurts: unintentional backroll kiteloop
Next Trick: unhooked backroll
There are only a few guys on the planet that can do 720's. When they do them they use a really long leash that can wrap around you 2 times for the pass, when you eat shit with your leash wrapped it tends to rake across your chest and up your face....not fun
Thats why you might see some guys doing it without a leash...that way if they don't make it the kite flys away...usually with boat support to go fetch it.
also very scary trick to try I think recently Giselle Pulido the spanish rider the leash wrap around her neck and was very scary moment for her.. The PKRA thought that she had a broken neck but as only bruisers..
I would say if you try this trick do it without a leash and have some friends rescuing your kite

Have you used the one-hand trick for frontrolls?
