Doable

Hey,

I live in Quincy and have kited Wally a few times but the winds are fluky at best (at least the times I went). Best session I had there was when the winds were more NE which seems rare. No restrictions that I know of just common sense. It's a small beach, close to the main road and can get crowded with beach goers in the Summer. Have at her and see.

For a west or nw your best

For a west or nw your best bet is to drive out to the spot in Houghs Neck. It is not to the best spot for newbies but the wind will be much cleaner. Check my post from last week to see where it is.

i checked that park last week

i checked that park last week ,it was all covered with snow so i can not tell how is the launch area but the water around there does not look safe at all, plus there is a wall on the right side of the beach where the houses are,so its definatly not a newbies friendly,i will give wally a try before the summer time come when it get all crowded, thanx every body for the info, amine

park

amine- thanks for the info about the wall, houses. I've been wondering about this spot too. Maybe at low tide it's shallow enough to walk out and get a buffer zone to the houses? Are there other obstacles in the water?

I thought that it might be more newbie friendly than Dog Beach but it doesn't sound like it.

wolly

I live in Wolly and ride in an E, ENE and NE. The wind is about 4 mph less than what you'd get at Nantasket but sometimes when the wind is blowing too much elsewhere, Wolly is the trick. The slick all the way to the left as you are facing the water is my favorite.

I used to ride there in a NW but I've found very few days when it's usable. Mostly we just get a fish sandwich and a beer at the Clam Box. :^)

In a SE I park at the little park on Squantum and walk out along the beach to get the wind.

This spot on Hough's Neck......Parkhurst Perry / Nut Island - Please know that many of us stopped riding there because of the updraft from the hill. A very experienced kiter was badly hurt there in 2004.
