How's the sizing? Anyone with 7mm? Overkill/too thick? Thanks.

Sizing is pretty true

sizing is pretty true. If you are a half size go down to the nearest whole size. They will be snug but won't interfere with circulation. I wear 10.5 or size 11 street shoes and the 10 is good for me.

I have a pair of 7 mm Rip curls that have always kept me toasty warm. I did try on the Excels but they turned out not to be available in my size ( I tried to slip into the 9's which were too tight or use the 11's which I found floppy ). I have a pair of their reef shoes (super thin) and 3 mm and they would have been my first choice if I could have found them in my size.

I have been using the Xcel

I have been using the Xcel drylock 7mm boots for a little over a year now. They are my only boots and I don't think they are overkill. I go from bare feet to the 7mm booties with nothing in between and I have never thought they were too warm. Ive been out in 28 degree air/ 32 degree water a few times for over 3 hours and wasn't the slightest bit cold. If you put them on right, no water will get in them while walking your board out in the water or body dragging. A crash however will lead to a cold water flush, obviously. I also surf in them during the winter season. They honestly look and perform as good as they did on day 1 and ive seen no wear on them from my kiteboard straps. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have the XCEL 5mm Infiniti

I have the XCEL 5mm Infiniti Boots. They are perfect. Was out today with air temps hovering around 32 and water temps probably in the low forties (NOAA puts the water in Boston Harbor at 40.3 today), and my feet were never uncomfortably cold. Mine are a size 12. I normally wear an 11.5 street shoe, EU45 cycling shoes. A little flushing on crashes and when hitting chop, but never bad. Sometimes the slight cooling was welcome. Hope this helps!
