Pbay Jul 6 - pretend there's wind
I couldn't make up my mind whether or not I should deal with the traffic and kite at dog in potentially no wind and yucky water. In the end I just grabbed the camera and went to PB for some pictures. Rumor has it that dog would have been the place to be, but this was still fun. I love taking kiting pics! Even with patchy wind, like yesterday. Fun to see everyone's face lit up whenever the wind picked up for five minutes or so.
For those of you who'd like to get action shots of yourselves next time I show up with the camera - my lens is 300mm. Meaning: if you throw super awesome tricks right in front of me, all I can get are close ups of widened nostrils, evidence of tongues about to be bitten off (I'm looking at you Jeremy!) and butt cracks. Occasionally a leg or two.
Anyway, I always end up taking to many, I'll upload the rest onto my flickr account and post the link here. Feel free to download from there or contact me for higher resolution originals.
These pictures are amazing! Great job... Good to see you at briefly local last night
Nice shots. If only the wind was been better!
Those pictures rock! I love the light and Depth of Field. I guess I got throttled a few times! I had a 17m and light wind board and was last off the water. But really I was so pissed when it was lit and I didnt have smaller gear. It was so up and down. Thanks for bringing the camera I was excited that I was in a few!
JD's best one handed raley (S-Bend) form !!
Nice photos Marie!!
Love the dimmed tones and colors of yesterday's evening

@Gato, those are unhooked Tantrums not S-Bends. And btw Johnny Looking good! Is it easier doing those on a bigger kite then a smaller b/c it's more floaty? or does the pull of the bigger kite make it just different.
Really... That sounds cool! Yeah they are def unhooked one handed like s-bend. I guess now I can drop a cooler name for that trick. I do them as a transition too.
The big kite is not easier and often I got catapulted then land on my back after dropping to leash(few of those shots there). The smaller kite drops back to the water so to make the landing stick were the big kite hovers and causes more of a dangle.
I more recently found the rotation is easier with a grab as it get my body in a better crouched position to land. I also accidentally learned a good one hand nuclear grab from the ones that I seriously fuck up. So I realize crap thats another cool trick with the same roots that I was already only doing hooked in.
Yeah a Tantrum is when you throw more of a backflip then an S-Bend where you should be doing a laid out Raley with a front roll. It's hard to find good videos of someone doing a Tantrum but here are two to compare.
Tantrum:
S-Bend:
It did look like you got rocked on a few of those. I gotta get over the worry of dropping the kite and start doing more unhooked shit at P Bay. Since I throw all my unhooked shit to the right I can't use the throw down zone to fuck up and walk it in. And yeah need to do my shit the other way too but getting there. hah
Marie can you send me two of those better shots?
