Sacandaga Lake, NY
Great day up on Sacandaga Lake today with the guys from www.sandislandkites.com Wind was out of the West all day at averaging 23-26 mph and gusting to 35 mph repeatedly! Take a look at the wind report below. Most guys were riding 8 and 9 m Cabrinhas Switchblades/Crossbows and getting massive hang times on 9 m's! I put up a 7 m Slingshot that my friend had and was well powered. After the wind dropped a bit around 4:30 I put up my 12 m switchblade, and was a bit overpowered at times, but teh kite handles it well.
Sacandaga Lake is almost 6 miles wide in South West end so there is plenty of fetch for the wind to smooth out, but also to make some waves. Today we had plenty of 2-3 footers with the occasional set of 4 footers rolling through to get some real nice hits off of. Pretty kick ass day for us and a bit rare for the wind to blow this hard for this long.
wow coo. never thought of kiting up there. glad you got some decent wind!! launch looks awesome!

Yeah Sacandaga is a pretty cool place to ride and there are a lot fewer Great Whites than at Chatam!
You can launch at the Broadalbin Town Beach after 6:00 pm in the summer and anytime after labor day. Life Guards are kids and they dont mind even during the day if the beach isn't crowded. Wind is 90% South West to West wich is perfect for that side of the lake. Never any wind before 12:00
Winter time is Awesome. They lake freezes early and you can do a downwinder for miles and miles and miles if you want to.
