Windy Weekend Feb 19th-20th

What a weekend is was! Showing up to the beach with Eric on Saturday to find a couple crazies rigged up and about 45knots of breeze. Flo went and launched his 6 and immediately decided it was too much. Eric and I decided to wait and hope for it to calm down and headed to Camp howUdoin' to see the guys. There we embarked on a few beers, trampoline setup and unhooked practice before Haley kicked us out like a bunch of kids with too much energy. Back to the beach we went to find that the wind had layed down to 35-40 and Florian was out riding a 7m in the marsh behind Chapin. Gusty was an understatement and JohnnyD, Rodrigo, Eric, Tyler and myself all decided it would still be worth it. We all rigged 7-9m kites and headed out to the point to get better more consistent breeze.

At the point we found endless flat water with the lunar high tide and crushed the flats with Johnny throwing some monster unhooked tricks. At a couple points the breeze kicked up so much the 9m kites had to come down to wait for it to pass. Rod and I both had some leaks on our 7m kites and made the walk back to pump our 9m's. Rod ran into a seal along the way sunning itself high up on the beach which was really cool. It was a great day that ended on the 9m for myself super lit and jumping higher than ever been!

After a great session went and got some early dinner and refreshments with the crew and took over Olivers on 6a. The group grew to I believe 16 and was great to get in from the cold and wind. Afterwards the crew dispersed and few beers were had at the camp and review of videos while others fell asleep standing up nearly. Rodrigo made a late night (8:30pm) lasagna that was out of this world and followed up by some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies per request of Haley.

Sunday was a day that I could barely get out of bed but decided that I needed to stretch the legs. Met skyrocket at mayflower and crushed some overhead waves for an hour and called it quits.

Overall such a great weekend and to spend with the masskiting crew old and new! Thanks again to Haley for opening his doors to everyone...

PS: first real try on video editing. Make sure bump up quality to 720 or 1080 on the youtube button if not already.. major respect to jean for doing this and doing it so well!

nice storytelling with the

nice storytelling with the moving pictures Sam. Really got a feel for the winter kiting vibe with the crew. We are lucky to have each other out there in those conditions.

Nice video! Mayflower looked

Nice video! Mayflower looked sweet. Was the flat-water session behind Chapin; and was anyone very cold?

The air temp on Saturday

The air temp on Saturday fluctuated but was in the high 30's. Water temp was about the same. I had my 6/5 NPX Zealot with 5mm boots and 2mm glacier gloves...actually felt bad about having to take a leak I was that warm...
