A Bunny ride
The wind predictions were for 30 knots, with gusts to 40. I would finally get a chance to fly a tiny kite. I chose the Wainman Hawaii 'Bunny' -- a playful 5 meter. The colors and designs really popped as I was pumping the kite. Even though it has a supported leading edge, I was happy to see that it had no bridal. Once in the air it turned fast, but very stable. I could really feel the kite, it was very responsive to my bar commands. I was able to get big air on the way out in the 8-foot seas, and park it nicely riding in, carving turns on the Wainman Hawaii 5'8" Wide. Once I got the 4 extra screws for the surfboard, I was able to get the footstraps to mold around my feet really well. The few times I crashed the kite, it relaunched very easily. A couple of times it did get eaten by the surf, and once it inverted. I came back in to switch out the Surfboard for the 130 cm Blunt. I love the way that board stops on a dime and pops you super high on the jumps. Seems like the ideal board for popping insane tricks. When the wind backed off a little, I used the 7 meter Gypsy. Loved the design, the bar, and all of the accessories are really well thought out.
HUGE props to Johnny D of Kitesurfer.us for providing the kites and board for this demo day.
PS. When I was kid, I was given the term of endearment: Jeannot Lapin which translates into Bunny Rabbit. I had a rabbit for a pet and I still contend they are the cutest animals on the planet. Being a member of the Rabbit Gang today felt as though the universe was perfectly aligned.
