case of the monday's
With some unexpected November thermals, decided to hit PB early, arriving before noon. Jean and Spatsy were pumped up and ready to go and things looked pretty lit up. I pumped my 8m and after taking a few photos, hit the water. After about 10 minutes of solid wind, it dropped off pretty bad and I ended up walking back.
Greg and some of the rest of the crew were starting to arrive so I pumped up my 12m and decided to see how the Mako King would serve as a light wind board. Turns out it rocks! Jean was on his 13m and Mako King and I was on my 12m and Mako King and we were the only ones able to stay consistently up wind. You can see in some photos how much glass there was.
After an hour or so, passed the board on to Coop so he could get out on his 13m. Wind was off and on, and by the end even the 15m kites were floating. Still not bad for a 70 degree November afternoon!
Wow! Beautiful, Shane. Thank you for sacrificing precious time on the water to capture these images. Kitesurfer.us lent me the Mako King 165cm. I had it set up for twin tip. The concave bottom means it can really track upwind. Also the turning in the transitions is very stable if you lean really hard into it - no slippage. I was loving turning to toeside. Riding toeside is very comfortable and stable, and you can really point. I think this a great light wind board. Still working on getting the timing right on the jumps.
