When Horseneck rocks
Wind was going to be West, strong and gusty, and I sometimes find Cape Cod a little too radical in these conditions, plus there is no fetch for a good wind swell inside Nantucket Sound, so my pull on a day like that is Horseneck Beach in Westport. Plus, it's closer - 80 minutes from Boston. Off season, it is desolate and huge. The waves peel nicely, and there is delicious flatwater inside. I always park at the end of Bridge Road, and today, Officer Friendly handed out $25 parking tickets. The other options are to park at the State Beach Reservation. The beach is a little crappy there: the sand is blowing away, there is a kite eating fence build to try to keep the sand, there is an ugly concrete bath house, leave it to the State Recreation Department to spoil and beautiful site. So next time, I will park a little upwind at the Town Beach. Off season, I doubt that The Law will try to spoil my fun, and it is more scenic, and closer to the nice breaks. Oh yeah, the nice breaks, they are EVERYWHERE. This is gentle wave sailing at its best, smooth faces, steep ramps, huge air, warm water through November. If you like waves, this is where you belong.
Count me in nxt time, the Asskiter dwnwinder was gr8 but the wind was ridiculously strong! Sick waves tday @ Mayflower!

Jay, it's always a coup to get a Cape Codder off of the Cape... Glad to share the stoke. This Fall has been WINDYYYYYYY!!!!
